Never apologize for burning too brightly
Or collapsing into yourself every night
That is how galaxies are made.

"Excuse me ma'am, would you like anything else?" The air hostess said which would be the tenth time already.

“No, I'm good thanks." With that she nodded and carried on bothering other people.

So this is how it feels like to be in a plane. Being constantly bothered by women in miniskirts and getting so bored to the point that you imitate the people sitting around you.
Mom seems to be relaxed. This should be the only sleep she has gotten since we decided to move to the United States and as for little Davey, he seems to be enjoying himself.

"Rouge look, I'm spiderman!" Davey said as he did his famous spiderman pose.

“Wow, you look just like him.” I said, making him smile like a lunatic.

For kids, there was face painting and board games as activities on the plane. Davey made quite a lot of friends, and I'm here having the time of my life, hehehe.

Davey and I grew up in a country in Africa called South Africa. We've never been outside the continent before and this has to be a moment to remember. My older brother, Malcolm and my father are still in Africa. Malcolm is doing his final year in high school so it's kind of late for him to change schools.

"Rouge! Rouge! I want you to meet my friends, Ethan and Annabelle." Davey said with excitement.

"Hi Rouge, Dave has told us a lot about you!” Annabelle said.

“No I didn't! You're lying!” Dave denied with a frown on his face.

“I'm not lying and you know it! Ask Ethan, he was there!" With that, I exited the conversation by putting on my earphones and raising the volume up.

“Rouge...Rouge! Wake up, we've arrived." Mom said, shaking me to the point where I almost fall off my seat.

So this is it. The moment I walk out of this door, my life will change. As I walk out of the plane, I skip a step and trip on my own foot which was really embarrassing because I bumped into the very bothered man in front of me.

“I'm so sorry, I-I didn't mean to ...” I stuttered.

“Get out of my face before my fist mistakes yours for a punching bag.” he said, creating chills all over my body.

“Sir I'd love to but I'm afraid I'm not going anywhere until you move along and stop holding the line 'cause news flash, you holding the line.” I said with a smile which was slightly doubting my confidence.

He grawled and started making his way out of the plane.

Way to go make things change, Rouge.

After taking our bags, we headed out of the airport and got in a taxi which took us to Lovek Street where our new house is.
It took us 30 minutes to get there. This place is beautiful. There's a park near our house and the poles and trees were decorated with lights. We arrived around 10pm so I couldn't take a quick tour around the neighborhood.
At least it's a Friday, I can start my touring tomorrow morning.

“Let's see our new house! ” mom said while opening the front door to the house.

If words could describe how enormous and beautiful this house is.

“Mom! Rouge! Look! This place has a swimming pool! Just wait until Annabelle sees this, she's gonna be like 'oh my word, Dave y'all have a huge pool! I wish I was as awesome as you are.' And I'll be like 'well dreams do come true, don't lose hope now' and she'll start smiling and I'll start smiling because I know her dreams won't come true!” Davey said wickedly.

“You've got things well planned out, I see.” I said.

“okay, let's start unpacking!” mom said with a lot of excitement in her voice.

The door bell rang while I was still packing my clothes into my closet.

“who could that be so late.” I hear mom say from downstairs.

I go downstairs to see who our first guest is. Mom opens the door to find nobody there but someone was here because that person left a small parcel on our doormat. Mom looks around before taking the parcel and shutting the door quietly. It's a small box with a red ribbon tied around it.

“Mom what do you think is in there?” Davey asked with concern.

“Well we may only find out by opening it.” I said, getting curious of what the box may hold.

Mom slowly opened the box. Davey and I desperately wanted to know what was in the box.

“Chocolate? ” mom said which sounded more like a question.

“Look, there's a note attached to it” I said, grabbing the note which stated: welcome to the US.

“Mom is there anyone you might know that stays around here?” I said, getting creeped out.

“No...not that I know of. I've only met with my boss and the board through a zoom meeting but they Only knew that I'm flying in next week. ” she said, looking more freaked out than me.

“So what are we waiting for? Let's eat it! Nothing tastes better than free chocolate. ” little Davey says, attempting to take the box from mom.

"Hayibo wena-”

“David, asowume-”

Mom and I object as she pulls away from David who's trying to reach for the box.

“I don't think that would be a good idea Davey, not until we know who it's from. Rouge, go put this in the pantry far from Davey's reach please." With that I take the box of chocolate and make my way to the kitchen. I wonder who it's from.

In my bedroom listening to my 'sleep playlist' (yes I have a sleep playlist, check it out on Spotify, it's called Insomnia Remedies ), I hear a knock on my door.
little Davey cracks open the door and peeps his massive head into my room with his eyes popped out and his lips puffed up.

“Sowufunani Davey?” I ask him, eager to know why his out of bed so late. Okay, okay it's only 01:00am and it's a Saturday but I thought he'd be really tired because it was such a long trip.

“I heard something in my closet and mom seems like she doesn't want to be bothered. ” he replied.

“K. Bye.”

He looked at me as if to say eeehh and he closed the door and jumped into my bed. I tucked him in beside me and kissed his forehead goodnight.

“Rouge?”

“Yes Davey?”

“Who do you think the chocolate's from?”

“I don't know Davey.” I sigh

“I don't know.”
