The bell finally rang for lunch and boy am I hungry. I could really use some of those oily meatballs.
I get to the cafeteria and get my tray of food before heading to the table. I find Carlos sitting there alone, starring at his food.
"Hey hey hey." I said, sitting beside him.
"Hi Rouge." He mumbled, looking up from his food and forcing a small smile. Something's wrong...
"Okay, what's wrong." I asked him.
He sighs and leans back on his chair.
"Mia." He said. "She got involved in a car accident last night."
"Oh no...is she okay?"
"She's fine, but she hasn't woken up yet." He said, sitting up straight again.
"Do you know who was driving?"
"Her new boyfriend. Apparently he was drunk, he doesn't have a license and he forced her into the car." He said, stabbing his sandwich with his fork.
I moved closer to him and put my hand on his shoulder attempting to calm him down.
"That bastard didn't even get help! He left her there in a turned over car and fled." He yelled.
He looked at me with his red and angry eyes and said softly, "She could die...because of him."
"Carlos I know it's hard but-"
"Because of him!" He exclaimed, cutting me off.
"Woah, what's going on here?" Devin said as he neared the table with Matthew and Gwen.
Carlos stood up and headed out of the cafeteria. I stood up to go after him but out of nowhere Logan holds me back and shakes his head. I hope he'll be alright.
Ricardo sees Carlos walk out and he follows him out. I wonder what that was about. I didn't know they were close, unless he was the Friend who Mia went for while she was dating Carlos.
It all makes sense. I always thought it was Ken, but he seems too sweet to do such and in fact they still close friends.
"Rouge!" Gwen yelled as I snapped my head up from my food.
"We asked you a question." Devin said.
"Sorry, I...I wasn't listening. What was the question?"
"What happened to Carlos?" Matthew asked.
"Geez guys, it's just one of his ways of seeking attention. He'll be fine." Logan said, biting into his sandwich.
How could he say that?
"Um, he's not seeking attention. You don't know what he's going through." I said, defending him.
"And you don't know him like I do." Logan said, which kind of annoyed me. He saw my annoyed face and said, "Don't take it to heart, Rouge. Carlos is strong, he'll get through whatever's eating him up."
I simply nodded and continued eating my sandwich.
"Logan!" Emily exclaimed flirtatiously as she walked towards us with Tessie.
