My whole body was shaking. I wanted to scream at him to stop, but I couldn't. The knife cut through my skin. He kept it still not hitting a vital spot. He was hesitant. Xavier looked as if he was arguing with himself. To do it or not to do it. Just as he was about to push the knife down a voice called. "Xavier get down here!" He jumped up leaving the room, slamming the door behind him.

"I'm alive." I sighed in relief. I got up my legs were trembling. I felt as if I was about to pass out. Why did he do that? The only time he tried to kill me was when he said I was a witness. But he didn't murder anybody here. Did he? I opened the door about to leave.

"Are you okay?" A little girl stood at the door. Who was she? Did she see what just happened?

"Yes I'm fine." She stood there blinking. Her eyes were like the blue sea. It was exactly like Xavier's.

"Who are you?" She asked.

"My name is Alexa. Who are you?" She started to squeeze the blanket she was holding. Her face dropped. Was she scared? Why was she?

"You need to stay away from my brother." She whispered. Did she mean Xavier? I just survived him trying to kill me I think I was fine. As I was thinking that I heard something slam hard on the ground. "Get out of here now." She pulled me out of the room. I took this and actually listened. I started to run down the stairs and out the door. Just then someone grabbed me.

"You're not leaving."

"Let go of me!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. I struggled trying to release myself from his grip, but he wasn't budging.

"Weren't you saying before how you wanted to stay with me." He said smugly.

"You tried to kill me, twice!" I elbowed behind me.

"Ugh; just kidding, you think you could hurt me with those frail arms." I wanted to punch him in the face but he had both my arms. How did I love a guy like this before? The little girl from before appeared in front of me. "Amber go back in." Amber? So that was this girl's name.

She started to grab her dress and then said,"No brother!" He took one hand off of me. Holding both my hands in one of his. Then he grabbed Amber and pulled us both inside. Amber looked as if she was about to cry, Xavier looked as if he was going to explode, and there mother just stood there with a frightening look. She had both hands on her hips and her back was perfectly straight except one leg was slightly bent.

"What were you two thinking yelling out there like that!" We all looked around confused. Who was she talking to. "Look at me!" She snapped. All of us looked at her standing as if we were soldiers. Even Amber.

"Mom she was trying to escape." A shiver ran up my spine hearing him call this lady mom. Even though I knew there relationship already. "Did you want me to just let her go?" I did, I totally did. The lady gave me a look that would have made the old me start crying on the spot.

"You're the girl from the store." The lady said. 

"Did you just realise that?" I covered my mouth. I was so used to now talking like that with Xavier it felt natural. But now if I do it, it felt like I would die.

"You sure are brave." Xavier and his mother both said at once.

"She's not brave she's actually really scared." I was starting to think that Amber was an actual mind reader.

"She's not a mind reader." Xavier remarked. They were both mindreaders! "You're just easy to read." Was I really that easy to read?

"That's besides the point. What the heck is all of this?" I couldn't comprehend what was going on. He was a murderer I thought he was in hiding.

"This is my family, as you can see." Xavier pointed to the two of them.

"I thought you were in hiding!" I started to feel angry again. I felt cheated and lied to.

"When did I say I was in hiding?" I stood there in silence. My mind couldn't remember if he did or didn't.

"Well, how have you not been caught yet?" Wouldn't it be easy to find him if he was living with his family.

"Didn't you see where this house is? It's in the middle of a forest that no one enters." The little girl nodded.

"Whatever I've got to go. My parents will worry." Actually I wasn't worried about my parents I was more scared of Xavier and his family.

"Oh you're not leaving." The lady said. Wait, what? "You have found out our little secret now you must stay here." Dang it!
