Alexa's P.O.V.
It had been two days already. Though it had felt like two years. It was hard every time I had to use the washroom I had to get Xavier to turn around. When I wasn't using the toilet he was staring at me. As if he was rethinking life.
"Get out." It was a woman police officer. She held a police stick in one hand moving it up and down. Showing that she had the power. I grabbed Xavier as he leaned on my shoulder. He still could barely move due to the shock.
"I can do it," he said pushing me away. I looked at him. Was he blushing?
Xavier stumbled as he walked down the hall. "No you can't." I grabbed him and balanced him. He looked away and hid his face. What was with him?
We finally got to the cafeteria, or what was supposed to be a cafeteria. As soon as you walked in you smelt wet mold. The food looked soggy, but tasted dry and bland. It was worse than the prison cells. I looked over at Xavier. He was just twirling his spoon around in his food.
"I know it's gross, but you have to eat," I said.
"You aren't eating either." I looked down at my tray. He was right. I hadn't taken a single bite.
"I'm waiting for you to eat first. It's common courtesy," I answered. It was a lie, I just didn't want to eat the food. For the last couple of days we had been shoving it down, but you can only withstand something for so long.
"Fine." Xavier plugged his nose with his left hand and took the spoon in his right. He leaned his head back as the food slid into his mouth.
"How is it?" I said flinching at the thought of him eating that.
"Edible," he mumbled. His face went pale. He looked as if he was going to throw up. I jumped up grabbing Xavier's arm. All the officers put there hand on their gun. Getting ready to shoot. I ignored them and pulled Xavier over to the bathroom. We had to get an officer to unlock it for us.
"Wh-why?!" Xavier yelled gagging over the toilet. It had gotten worse since we got here, but he refused to tell the police. Was he scared of doctors? He had already been found out. So what was the point?
After emptying his stomach into the toilet he got up and washed his face and mouth at the sink. I grabbed some paper towel for him. When I looked over at him he was crying.
"You'll be fine," I said embracing him from behind. Truthfully I didn't know what he was worried about. Though I knew that he wasn't himself since he had a fever.
We walked out and got led back to our cell. It felt more dreary and darker than before. Xavier occasionally had to run over to the toilet and start gagging. When I wasn't worried about his fever I heard creaks in the ceiling. Maybe the other prisoners.
"You hear that?" Xavier asked. This time he seemed to hear the creaking. It was getting louder. Until it eventually was right on top of us. "Watch out!" Xavier pushed me away from the middle of the cell.
I looked at him. I felt his breath on my face. He was breathing heavily. I couldn't hear it though, due to my heart beating so loudly.
"Sorry to break up the moment, but your rescue has come." I looked at the floor the vent cover was lying there. Right above it peeking out of the vent was Amber.
