Xavier kept asking Amber questions until it got dark. "Xavier that's enough questions," I said looking over at Amber. She looked like the life had been drained out of her. Her face had gained a little colour, but she was still shaking in fear.

"Okay then. Amber you can go to bed now," Xavier replied. Amber bounced off the couch and rushed up the stairs to her room. Xavier sighed as he slumped down onto the couch. "What a horrible brother I am," he muttered into his hand.

I took his hand and said, "You can be horrible in a lot of other places, but you are a great brother." He looked over at me and smiled. "You're smiling," I pointed out. He ignored me. He brought his hand from his face and interlocked it with my hand. My heart started to race. I felt the pink rising up my cheeks.

Xavier looked at me and laughed. "You get flustered so easily," he laughed. I frowned. I slipped my hand from his and crossed my arms.

"Whatever," I angrily said.

"Hey its not like I said I don't like girls that get flustered easily." I looked at him with an annoyed face. Right before he decided to kiss me on the cheek.

"Wha-what was that!?" I stuttered.

"Goodnight," Xavier said. Ignoring what I had asked. I brought my hand up to my cheek where his lips had brushed me. It was warm, but that may have just been me blushing.

I decided to sleep on the couch. Even though there were empty rooms upstairs. I knew Xavier was up there. So I was nervous to run into him if I got up in the middle of the night.

Morning seemed to appear within a second. Amber was sitting on a chair nearby reading a book. While Xavier cooked breakfast in the kitchen. Amber looked over at me. "Good morning," she smiled.

"Morning," I replied. "What time is it?" I asked rubbing my eyes.

She shrugged, "I don't know the clocks broken." After answering Amber went back to her book. I realised that I shouldn't interrupt her.

"Hey, Alexa can you come here?" Xavier called from the kitchen. Memories of last night started to fill my head. I needed to get a grip. Xavier probably thought of something like that as a joke. I walked into the kitchen. He already had all the food out on plates.

"It's all fruit," I groaned.

"Well that's all there was," he replied.

"Ok then. What did you call me for?" I asked changing the subject. Xavier turned around and grabbed a cellphone off the counter. I was surprised since I thought Xavier didn't have a cellphone. "Why do you have a phone? Can't police track this?" I asked.

"It's not mine," he said while throwing it to me. "Look at the message." I turned on the phone. The background picture was a dark red. It looked as if the phone itself was bleeding. There was no password so after sliding it, it automatically went to the texts.

Unknown: I'm sorry Xavier I can't keep up this façade.

I kept rereading the text. What did they mean? "Xavier who wrote this and what do they mean by façade?" I demanded to know.

"My mother," he mumbled. Thoughts started rushing through my head. What did he mean? How did he know? What did his mother mean?

"Though if she sent this that means she's alive," I said trying to lighten the mood.

"That means none of us are safe," he whispered. His voice gave me the chills.

"She's your mother. What do you mean?" I asked. He ran towards me. Digging his fingers into my shoulders. I winced in pain as his nails broke through my skin.

"Stop talking about her!" He screamed at me. His hot breath covered my face. I was unable to move, stuck in his trap.

"Xavier stop!" Amber yelled. Xavier looked at her and realised that she was still in the house. He backed away taking his hands off of me. Blood stained my shirt.

"Why did you get so mad?" I said breaking the silent. He looked away from me refusing to answer.

"It's because mother has betrayed us," Amber answered calmly.

A/N: If there are any editing errors I'm sorry. I tried to get this chapter out. So it was a bit rushed.
