I pull back, staring at Jay.
"What was that?" I ask with complete shock and confusion.
"That was a kiss, and a pretty good one I must say," He smiles and takes my hand.
I stand, hand-in-hand with Jay. I feel completely awkward and I can't shake off the fact that he did that for sponsors.
"So are we...you know...allies?" I look down. I never had a guy like me, it's weird.
"I guess." He smiles and he pecks my cheek.
He's adorable and all but this is a game and I can't go through with him kissing me.
He breaks the silence, "So shall we try to get some breakfast?"
I shrug, "Sure, I'm hungry."
We go out of the cave with our weapons in hand. We split up, and I can't tell that Jay didn't. He really wants to be by my side, but I like to hunt independently.
I go east of the cave while Jay goes west. I end up finding a small patch of water, and I search for berries and meat.
At the end I get a very small rabbit, some edible berries, and I filled up my water bottle with the small pond that I found.
I head back to the cave where Jay is already settled on the ground, cooking a bird that he had killed. He crowds a small flaring fire, making the flames flicker off of his face.
"Is that all you scrummaged to find?" I playfully mock him.
He looks up, "There was no game over where I was, but I see that you got good findings." He smiles and continues to cook to de-feathered bird.
I smile back and sit by him, showing him the contents.
We snack on the berries while we wait for the bird and rabbit to fully cook.
He holds my hand, and that's when we get our first parachute.
He gestures it to me to get it, so I get up and scamper to the treat.
I pick the silver box up and open it, reading the note first.
Keep playing her, Kid.

My jaw drops and I crinkle the note into my jacket pocket. I look down and see what was in the box. I see two golden brown muffins.
Wow.
Hopefully that came out as a lot of sarcasm as I had intended. I mean seriously, I can make these easily back home! The sponsor probably purchased these from 11!
I must've been standing there for a while because I heard Jay calling my name.
I wasn't far away at all, but I had a hurt expression painted on my face.
"Rue, are you alright?" He comes running over to me, looking at the muffins. "Whoa! I never had one of these before!" He smiles and takes a muffin and bites into it.
I grimace, fully disgusted by his acting. He's going to turn on me soon, and he's going to kill me before I can even react.
My skin crawls at the one thought that crosses through my mind over and over again.
I have to kill Jay for my own safety.
