Amanda Waller stared at Artemis, a deep irritated look burning in her eyes. "What did you say?", she asked, glaring up at the blonde. Artemis replied again, "I was asking if we could move Black Velocity to a better, more spacious area. He's claustrophobic, and can't stay in an area of that size. When I left, he was hyperventilating. I'm worried he'll go unconscious on us, if we don't act quickly, and get him the space he needs." Waller growled, "And he requested this? Because the last time I checked, you were his boss, not the other way around. Crock, I specifically told you that you make the rules regarding him. He's a prisoner here, and has no say in what we do to him. He's killed many people to get what he wants. He killed one of our own, as well as many others, who stood in his way. He is not here on probation. He may appear to be just a teen, like you, but he has a rap sheet the length of three football fields. So no, he will not be getting any larger space to stay in for the time being, or any special treatment, just because his powers make him afraid of too little space. Until the power is fully restored to the building, and to the inhibitor collars, he will stay there, where his powers can be contained." Artemis wanted to say more, but decided against it. She didn't want to get fired on her first day, and knew if Waller said no, she meant no as in zilch. Sighing, Artemis turned and left the room, heading back to the S.T.A.R. Labs containment sector of the prison, to tell her charge that he would have to make do with what he had, because Waller wasn't going to budge from her position. When she arrived, Black Velocity asked, "So what did she say, Princess? I need to get out of here. This is too small." Artemis apologized, "I'm sorry, but she told me you aren't allowed to have more space, because you don't make the rules." Black Velocity sighed, then replied, "Guess it's cause no one can trust a villain, huh? I bet you don't even trust me, Princess. No one ever does. The only one to put trust in me is my dad, and he's a mess to deal with." Artemis agreed, sympathetically, "Tell me about it. My dad is an assassin for the Light and he is such a mess that my mom had to ban him from my place." Black Velocity replied, "At least you have a mom. I never really knew mine." "You don't have a mom? Why?", Artemis asked, a bit nervous to be intruding. Black Velocity answered back, with a sadness in his voice, "No, I have a mom, but I don't know much about her. She left when I was a young kid, learning how to follow in my father's footsteps, as the next Reverse Flash. I think she left, because of her hating who my father was. He told me she ran away, when I was just a kid, and left me with him. He hasn't spoken about her, since I was four, and learned to control my powers." Artemis said, "Oh, I just thought...I'm sorry. It was rude of me to assume." Suddenly, Black Velocity's personality changed, as he bit harshly, "I don't need sympathy from you or from anyone, Princess. It's not your business who my family is and what my life is like." Artemis replied, nipping back coldly, "I wasn't asking for you to share, you coward. You did that all by yourself." Black Velocity said, "Oh." The room fell silent, with their breathing being the only sound in the mostly vacant room. About half an hour later, the red light on Black Velocity's inhibitor collar flipped on again. He muttered, "Collars are back on, I guess, Princess. What a drag. I was having fun, you know, getting to talk with you. Guess it's time to go back to that stuffy hole of a cell." Artemis answered, "Guess so." Switching gears mentally, the blonde ordered, "Back away from the door." The villain grinned, "Hey, that sounded just like Waller, Princess! Good imitation. There may just be something bad about you anyway." Letting out a snicker, he backed away from the glass door, as ordered. Artemis grabbed ahold of his shirt, then managed to pull him out of the containment cell, a frown over her cheeks, even though she really didn't feel like she was mad. Despite her hating the fact that she was with a very deadly villain teen, who could be a wildcard and was a terrible flirt, Artemis somehow didn't hate Black Velocity as much as she had thought she would. As she took him back to his cell, the blonde thought it over deeply, on how she truly felt about Black Velocity. Could she really be falling for the bad boy type, especially one who was a wanted, thieving, murdering metahuman, in several cities across the globe? Deciding that she seriously wasn't falling for the wrong crowd, Artemis shut out all possible emotional feelings she had for the villain teen, and focused on just getting him back to his prison cell, in Belle Reve Penitentiary. Upon arriving in the cell block room, where she met him, Artemis shoved Black Velocity back in his cell, and locked the barred door, saying, "Now keep that trap of yours shut, or you'll lose dinner for tonight." Black Velocity just chuckled, and somewhat smiled at her, in his odd way. After work, walking out of that room, and leaving Black Velocity in another guards' hands, felt strange to Artemis. She did it though, and went home to her mom's house, ready to kick back and relax without having to worry about a thing. Arriving at the house, after a thirty minute bus ride, as well as a fifteen minute walk, the blonde stepped inside, and was greeted by her mom, who asked, "So, how was the first day at your new job, Artemis? Was it all you were expecting and hoping it would be?" Nodding, Artemis answered, "It was interesting, Mom. I was already told by Waller that she underestimated my talents." The blonde's mom asked, "And how was that accomplished?" Artemis grinned, "I took down a metahuman, using the moves you and Dad taught me years ago. Who knew all that training could come in handy?!" Artemis' mom said, "That sounds like you had a great day, then. Why don't you sit down, and eat something? You look starving." Taking a seat on the couch, Artemis was handed a grilled ham and Swiss cheese sandwich, then proceeded to turn on the TV, and take a bite, only a few seconds later to spit it out, when the news reel for the channel she was on read, "Speedster Villain Teen Miraculously Escapes Belle Reve. Where Is He Now?", and on the screen a side shot of Black Velocity was displayed for all the world to see.
