Miniels PovExhaling, I slowly push the door to my dad's room open. After getting the information about his condition from his doctor the chances of him surviving this are so slim that I may have to make a decision I never thought I would be making at 17 years old. I'm hoping that he will wake up long enough for me to get some answers. He's the only person I know of to ask any of these and the chance of my so called mother reappearing are slim to none.
"You okay?" I heard Jackie ask from behind me. After my silent breakdown i had a little wgile ago she hasnt left my side which I am thankful for. My dad and I hadn't been close but he was still my dad. He's the only family I have left. My parents never really was close to their parents. The only thing I really remember from my grandparents were they were weirdly young looking. Both my mom's parents and my dad's parents both were very young for how old my parents claimed they were.
Breathing a sigh I nod to answer Jackie before walking over to my dad's bed. Looking at his face I choke back a few years. His entire is face besides his eyes and mouth are wrapped thick in white gauze to protect the burns he suffered. His right arm and right leg were both broke from falling through the floor when the flames got bad enough to destroy the ceiling. Walking around to the other side of the bed I take my dad's hand. "Dad, I don't know if you can hear me but I really need you to wake up." I said, letting tears fall down my face.
"What if this doesn't work." Jackie questioned, coming to the other side of my dad's bed that was closer to the door.
"It has to okay. I already know he's not going to make it but if I can get what I need from him I can take the suffering away." I stated, pulling a chair up to his bedside and sitting down. I rest my forehead on the bed, never once letting go of his hand. "Dad, please, if you can hear me, I really need your help." I whispered, looking at his face for any signs.
"Maybe I should step out." Jackie said, biting her lip.
I nodded but didn't say anything further. After she walked out I stood up from my chair and looked at my dad. "I know you can hear me," I said, letting go of his hand. "and I know you know what's going on." I got closer to his face and as soon as I did his eyes snapped open and a groan came from his mouth.
"D-dad." I studdered.
"I hope you know, waking me was the last thing you wanted me to do." He said, his eyes finally fixated on my face. As soon as he finished talking I knew this wasn't my dad but I didn't care. I needed answers.
"Who are you?" I asked, crossing my arms. "And don't give me some bullshit answer about running away. I'm not running away."
He laughed, coughing a little. "It doesn't matter who I am. It matters who you are."
I looked at him, confused. "What do you mean?"
"Miniel, you are someone very special and very powerful and you have never been a runner. Which is why you need to run now."
"What am I running away from?" I question more. I raise a shaky hand to my hair. "I keep getting told someone is coming for me. Who is coming for me."
He sighed. "I'm sorry, child. I can't answer that. Just know that what is coming for you is bigger then anyone, even god himself can fight. The letter your mother left is important. Read it." When he finished speaking his entire body started shaking violently. The heart moniter he was hooked up to started beeping winding causing nurses and doctors to run in and push me out. I looked at Jackie and sighed, shaking my head.
She sighed and sat down on a chair that was sitting outside of his door. "What now?"
I shook my head and sat next to her. "I got some answers but not much. Hopefully my mom's letter will tell us something."
Jackie nodded.
What felt like hours later but was really only about 20 minutes the nurses and doctors that had rushed in all came out. The looks on their face told me what I needed to know. My father was gone. The last living real relative I had left was gone.
Slowly walking to the door I see the nurse put the blanket over his head.
"Miniel."
I turned and seen my dad's doctor standing next to me with the same sympathetic look everyone else had. Already I was tired of that look so I looked away from him back to my dad's body. "Is he gone?" I ask quietly, already knowing the answer.
"I'm sorry, the burns were to bad. We tried as everything we could." The doctor said, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Thank you." I told him before walking in the room. I walk over to the bed and pull the covers back from his face. The bandages that were wrapped around his head were gone now letting me see how bad the burns were. Tears fell from my eyes as I bent down and kissed his head. "I'm gonna fix this." I said, walking away from his bed and out the door.
"Let's go." I tell Jackie, walking to the elevators. Jackie followed behind me as I stepped onto the elevator and presses the lobby button.
"What now?" She asked, stepping in front of me.
I look her in the eyes with a smirk. "I'm gonna find the mother fuckers who did this is tear them to pieces." I said and walked out of the door towards the parking lot.
