The 1967 Chevrolet impala, aka, Baby, is Dean's trademark. It was passed down to him by his father. John Winchester had bought it in 1973 after a future Dean convinced him to buy the impala over a 1964 VW Van. According to Dean, the car has 327 Engine and a four Barrel carburetor. It bears a Sedgwick County, Kansas licence (though their hometown of Lawrence is actually in Douglas County) plate KAZ 2Y5, a reference to their home state of Kansas and the year the show premiered.
Dean and The Impala
Dean received the impala as a gift from John for his 18th birthday. Since then, he has cared for it and repaired it. Although he sometimes takes out his anger on it, Dean loves his car very much. He often talks to it as if it were so human being, calling it Baby.
