Chapter 2- Swollen

After about third period I was already done with school. I just wanted to go home and eat.

As I'm walking to my locker I spot Betty talking to Veronica.

She makes eye contact with me and quickly waves me over.

"Hey." I smile at her.

"Who's this?" Veronica asks looking me up and down.

Funny how I know who she is but she has no clue who the hell I am. Shows how stuck up she is.

I've always had a grudge on the Lodge's. they were cheats and crooks.

"Jughead Jones." Betty said, pointing at me.

"I've heard about you around school." She smiled as she extended her hand.

I smile and shake it lightly.

"I'm Veronica..Lodge." She answers hesitantly.

I didn't exactly know at first why she said her last name hesitantly. Later I would find out that she was just ashamed of her parents.

The bell rings so I wave good by to the two girls before slugging off to forth period, lucky lunch is after this period.

As I sat in biology, I couldn't help but let my mind wonder to Betty Cooper.

She was a weird girl but weird in a good way. She was very quiet but when you get to know her she was very out going. 

I let my mind drift off until the bell rang. I got up and walked to the cafeteria.

The cafeteria is always loud so I like to sit outside, there is also more room outside so I'll be noticed by less people.

As I walk outside I see Betty sitting alone.

I walk up to her and tap her on the shoulder.

"Mind if I sit here?" I smile down at her.

She pats the seat next to her "All yours." She smiles.

I sit down and look at her. "So you and Archie Andrews?" I ask.

"W-what about us?" She stutters, shocked at the sudden question.

"You blushed this morning when you saw him." I said, turning back to my salad as I dig my fork into it.

"Oh..I used to have a massive crush on him before I um." She cleared her throat instead of finishing her sentence.

"Guy guys!" Veronica smiled as she jogged over to us.

"Yeah?" We said at the same time.

"Archie's in a fight!" She panted.

"What?!" Betty said, leaping to her feet.

Used to my ass.

"Yeah! Come quick!" She yelled run back into the school.

Betty and I quickly followed behind her.
As we reentered the school all we heard was chanting and yelling.

We pushed past the sworn off people to the front.

We saw Archie on the ground punching Reggie.

Betty run up to them and tried to pull them apart but just ended up getting punched in the eye.

That sure did making the fighting stop. Archie looking at Betty with wide eyes when he realized that it was him who just gave her, her soon to be, black eye.

"Take her to the nurse. I'll deal with Archie." I said, handing Betty over to Veronica.

Everyone in the crowd made way for the two girls.

Archie tried pushing past me to make sure Betty was ok but I put my hands on his chest to stop him.

"You need to cool down." I growled.

Archie keep pushing so I grabbed his arm and lead him outside. I sat him on a bench.

"Dude what the hell was that?" I asked.

"He was insulting Betty." Archie replied.

"So you punched him first?" I asked.

"Yep." He answered.

"Better hope no teachers hear about this. Now just stay out here and calm down. I'm going to find the girls." I day before walking inside.

As I'm walking down the hall I feel someone grab my arm before I know it I'm being pulled into the ladies bathroom.

"Woah." I say looking at Betty. The top of her eyebrow was cut and her eye was already starting to swell up and bruise.

You could tell she was still shocked by the current event.

"Can you watch her? I need to go get bandaids out of my lockers." Veronica, says running out the door.

I sit next to her on the sink counter.

"How's your eye?" I ask.

"Swollen." She replies looking at me.
