It had been a week now since I was cleared from the hospital. I had just left the place again after getting my cast taken off. My arm felt fine, but there was a big scar on my leg and I still couldn't move my foot much. I could feel it loosening up, but it was going too slowly. I was constantly worried that I wouldn't ever fully recover.
I hopped into the dance studio on my crutches and stopped inside the doorway. Inhaling deeply, I closed my eyes and then looked around. "Wen!" Someone yelled. It was Miss Nina. She ran up and hugged me tightly. "Your back!! When can you start dancing again? What happened? Oh dear you're on crutches!" She rambled off questions and explanations until she realized how overwhelmed I looked.
"Nina who are you yelling at now?" A voice called from the back. It was a guy's voice for sure and I thought I recognized it somehow. I looked at her confused.
"That's just my little brother," she said rolling her eyes.
"I've never met him. What was his name again?" I said.
"Jayden."
"Jayden," I repeated back. She nodded. I did recall her telling me about her younger brother before and now that I thought of it, I did remember his name being Jayden. But it couldn't be the same Jayden that I had started hanging out with. Am I right?
I was not right. Jayden walked out to the front of the studio and I looked from him to Nina. Seeing them by each other I realized they did look very similar. How had I not connected the dots before?
"Don't worry Jay. Wendy is used to me rambling," Nina said. "Oh yeah this is Wendy by the way."
"We've met," he replied. He sounded sort of shy, but that didn't seem like Jayden. Nina looked from me to Jayden and back to me. And then back to Jayden again.
"Oh. Ok then. Anyways, like I was asking before I was rudely interrupted by my brother, when are you gonna start dancing again?!"
"Oh you know um," I started awkwardly, "I might no—"
Jayden cut me off. "She's here for a reason Nina. She's gotta get that foot working again somehow, maybe dancing will loosen it up." He smiled at me and I widened my eyes at him. Not gonna lie, I was scared to try to dance again. What if it didn't work out? Nina looked from me to Jayden again, a strange expression on her face.
"So, how do you guys know each other?" she asked suspiciously.
Before I could say a word, Jayden casually said, "Wendy's my girlfriend."
"I— what?" I said baffled.
"Is that so? Wendy doesn't seem too sure," Nina said raising her eyebrows.
Jayden smiled at me. I could see him asking me with his eyes if I wanted to go along with his claim. I smiled back shyly. His smile widened and he slung his arm around me. "Wendy is kind of shy if you hadn't noticed, Niners (pronounced Neeners it's a nickname)."
"Wait seriously?! Oh. My. Gosh! My brother is actually dating my favorite dance student!! Wow this is so exciting and gross at the same time. I don't know what to say. I mean congrats little bro she's a keeper!" I blushed profusely, praying Nina would stop embarrassing me. But, of course, she's Nina. She doesn't know she's embarrassing you, she just speaks her mind, oblivious to people's reactions.
"Aww if you guys got married you'd be my sisterrr! Ok, sorry, calm down Nina. So. Let's get to dancing shall we?" I shot Jayden a nervous smile, slipping out from under his arm and following Nina to the dance floor.
Am I the only one who love love loves Nina?! And omg Jayden😍 sorry sorry I'll stop fangirling over my own story now lol. Don't forget to vote, comment, and follow me!
