I must've been perched at the end of my bed for hours before Amber finally made a show. She frowned at me, noticing the differ from my usual behaviour.

"You okay, Cassie?" She said as she unwrapped the silk scarf from around her neck. I raised my head, stood up and looked directly at her. "Zac? Really? He doesn't even care, you know that, right?" I crossed my arms.

"What in the world are you talking about? You think Zac is the father? As in Zac Freid aka fuck boy Zac? Haha no way in hell." She doubled over in laughter as she slapped her thigh.

I had fallen for it. Zac was lying. He lied to get into my pants and to provoke me. How did I not put the pieces together sooner? Of course it couldn't have been Zac.

"If it wasn't Zac then who was it?" I sat back down by the bed and gestured for her to join me.

She grinned and let out a small giggle instantly letting me know that she had met someone special. "So a couple of weeks ago I was in the cafe and this cute guy was behind the counter so even though I wasn't thirsty or anything, I ordered just to talk to him."

I raised my eyebrows as she blushed. "When I finally did speak to him, he was flirting at every chance he could get. As I left, I noticed that he had written his number on the receipt so the next night I met up with him and then I'm sure you can figure out the rest." By this point she might as well have been the Cheshire Cat.

I don't think she ever mentioned what his name was so I asked. "Oh his name is Jack. We've talked everything through and he's decided that he's gonna stick around and help me."

I couldn't help but feel slightly jealous of Amber. Although she was pregnant at such a young age, she was so so happy and she wasn't being blackmailed into hooking up with the worst guy in the school. And the guy that knocked her up actually cared enough to stick around.

We talked for a few more hours about school and what not. We got back onto the topic of her situation and a thought occurred to me. In a few months she would move out of the dorm and I would have a new roommate. I wasn't sure how I felt about this considering me and Amber had just clicked and built up a bond.

She must've sensed my discomfort as she asked, "Are you okay?"

I told her about that thought and she laughed. "Cassie I'm not just going to abandon you and you better not abandon me! I'm going to need the god mother around. I may be moving out, but I'm not moving out to France or anything."

My heart clenched as she said god mother and I covered my mouth. "Are you serious?! God mother? Oh my god Amber!" I pulled her into a hug as she said, "I wouldn't have anyone else."

This only made me embrace her closer. We we a giggling mess as we pulled away and for a moment, just a moment, I forgot about everything else. Zac, school, grades and even Shawn, the bane of my happiness.

The next day I woke up with a smile on my face, which instantly vanished when I realised that I would have to face Sha-Mr Mendes in front of the whole class including Zac. Oh the joy.
