Often times we want to know what the finite qualities of our giftings are, as if knowing them will help us get started in doing more serious work for the Lord. But that's not what God is looking for. He is the King, and we are His children, and we follow His lead. We serve Him. What we do is apart of what He is already doing and that is why we answer to His commands. And through our faith that He knows what to do, we serve Him, and He blesses us when we do. Not when we leave Him and try to go figure out things on our own. Not when we try to figure out all of the details of our skill sets and talents first. Not when we finally get the courage to feel talented enough. But when we seek Him first.

Often times in the modern day church, we put so much focus on talent on that when we suddenly don't feel like our talents are good enough anymore, it becomes reflected in the way we serve. We lose our passion or zeal for serving because other people seem to be more talented at it, and we start thinking things like: "I don't think they really need more. So why not just let them do it?"

Talent is not a bad thing but it is not the most important thing. It is subjective and it is not how God determines which of His children He is going to use.

Some of us are really good at music and some at speaking. Some are talented with working with numbers and some have great organizational skills. Some have stronger leadership skills and others are stronger influencers. Some are more analytical and others are more creative. And all of these things we can use out in the world at our jobs, schools, in our communities, and everywhere we go. But it's not talent or skill part that makes our work matter. It's what we learn by serving the King. It what we learn by looking at Jesus as our ultimate example; serving and loving like Him.

These are the words of Jesus:

“....Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant." Matthew‬ ‭20:26‬
