She was at a party, Lauren had to study for an upcoming exam and Danielle was bored out of her mind.
She got drunk, a little too drunk.
There was a gorgeous girl looking at her.
The gorgeous girl was coming her way.
The gorgeous girl pressed her up against the wall.
Suddenly plump lips were against hers.
She didn't kiss back but she also didn't pull away.
She felt disgusting.
Her phone went off in her pocket.
It was Lauren, asking how the night was going, if she was having fun, and goddammit this girl was way too good for her.
She went outside, phone clutched in her hand.
She shakingly dialled her number, holding the phone to her ear.
"Hi darling, you doing alright?" Lauren asked in her perfect voice.
Danielle let out a soft sob.
"Oh baby, what's wrong?"
"I'm sorry".
"For what?"
"I think we should stop this".
Lauren sighed and put the phone down for a second.
"Baby no, you're coming home, I'm picking you up, you just wait outside alright?"
Danielle nodded, not realising Lauren couldn't see her.
"Gonna need to hear your voice angel".
"Y-yea alright", Danielle stuttered.
10 minutes later, a familiar looking car pulled up.
Lauren pulled her puffy eyed girlfriend into a deep hug, frowning when Danielle pulled away from a kiss.
"We're not talking about it tonight, alright?"
Danielle looked at her and nodded.
"Good", she said.
She parked and carried Danielle inside. She kissed her hair and put her on the bed, before moving to the bathroom and fixing her a quick glass of water along with some Advil.
"Thank you", Danielle whispered.
Somehow they both knew it was for more than just the water.
Lauren was laying behind her, rubbing soothing circles into her side.
"Come on Dan, stop those tears, they're not needed".
Danielle looked up at Lauren and started crying even more.
Lauren leaned over and wiped them all away, replacing them with feather light kisses. "It's gonna be alright", she whispered. "We're gonna be alright".
Danielle wasn't so sure about that, but Lauren was opening her arms and fuck it, Danielle was going to cuddle her as if it was the last time she could, because it probably was going to be the last time she could.
She pressed herself close to Lauren's body, breathing in her scent, listening to her heartbeat. Lauren stroked her hair, whispering sweet nothings in her ear. Danielle felt vile, after everything that happened tonight, she shouldn't be receiving this kind of love, the kind where you feel as though you're the only two people in the entire world, as if the universe revolves around you.
Lauren's breathing evened out, Danielle knew she was asleep. She was left alone with her thoughts once again. What was she going to do tomorrow?
She could lie, tell her it was a drunk freak out and nothing happened. But she couldn't lie to Lauren, especially not about this.
She could leave, just leave right now, spare Lauren the pain and just never talk to her again. But then again, that might hurt her even more.
There was also option truth. Danielle didn't want this option, though it was the only one possible. She had to own up to it. And if Lauren decided that she had had enough, then Danielle was going to have to learn how to deal with it. Because Lauren deserved the entire goddamn world, and any choice she made, Danielle would respect.
She was mentally preparing for tomorrow morning, carefully planning out each and every word. As if she somehow knew what Lauren was going to say, how she was going to respond.
She didn't.
