I sat back in my chair and gave a heavy sigh while rubbing my eyes. Staring at the computer for three hours straight really messes with one's eyes.
I looked over at the clock at the bottom of the screen and let a groan. In bright violet colours it read 12:53 am. Gah! I have school tomorrow.
After shutting down my computer I got up and stretched. I felt my bones crack and my muscles stretch and let out a pained/satisfied groan. This whole Batè thing is really messing up with me, at this rate I'll have to stay more days rather than leave after my designated time.
Tiema gave me some good information and she promised that we can meet up in Seattle the day after tomorrow. Apparently Francesca has other agenda besides ruining Scott's happiness.
I changed to my pajamas and stood still for a minute listening to my surroundings. There was a movement in the living room but I know that it's actually Leah.
I exited my room and headed to the kitchen downstairs to grab a cup of water before sleeping. The kitchen lights were off but I turned them on anyways. Even though I'm a Delta my clumsiness is as bad as ever.
As if to prove my point I tripped over some loose floorboards, however I caught myself on the counter not before letting out a startled 'crap'.
The movement in the living room halted and I heard footsteps coming into the kitchen. Of course I was too busy checking my feet for splinters to look up.
"Bella?" Leah asked, and if it was any other day I would have just dismissed her. But her voice was thick with tears and the scent of misery and sadness was wafting off of her in waves that it made my stomach to clench.
My head shot up and I looked her over. She stood at the entrance of the kitchen and the living room behind her was dark, from what little light from the kitchen I could tell that she has tear tracks under her eyes and she was visibly hunched over as if trying to shrink in on herself, her arms were wrapped so tightly around herself it almost hurt to look.
"What's wrong?" I immediately asked, my maternal Delta instincts kicking in. I grabbed some tissues from next to the fridge and made my way over to her.
For a minute she looked shocked as I used the tissue to wipe her tears and then her eyes welled up again and the waterworks restarted. I, myself, was shocked and did nothing but pull her in a hug and guide her to the couch.
The couch was a small, comfy thing that lived a good, long life and was present during countless football games, gatherings and meals. I smelt the scent of old tears on it as I sat Leah down. I left her for a minute to prepare the tea then came back with two steaming mugs of Camomile tea and a plate of biscuits.
We sat in silence for a while with the occasional sniffle from Leah and occasional slurp of tea from either one of us. I'll give her time, once she calms down I'll ask her.
What confuses me is what could have made Leah cry. Strong, powerful, snarky she-wolf Leah? If it's Edward then I don't care, vampire or not I'll hurt him. To see someone so strong be so vulnerable changes something in you. No matter if this person is your bully, enemy or even worst nightmare. Tears are what washes away the mask you wear everyday and shows others who you really are; how broken you are.
Especially for girls. Girls never cry for one reason it's always a cluster fuck of reasons that leave us crying and broken and distrusful.
The sniffles next to me calmed down a bit and pulled me from my inner musings and I turned to her. Her usually short messy hair was messier than usual, not in a hot mess kinda way but more like just mess. Her eyes were a bit puffy and red and that was receding since she's a shifter and all.
