Alicia had books all around her. She was quietly turning the pages, not wanting to call any unwanted attention. A hard test was coming on Monday and she wouldn't be able to study that night, and probably not the next morning.
Her Iphone rang, she answered the call immediately.
"Yes?"
"Alicia, hunny?"
"Grandma, hey." The brunette smiled, "How are you?"
"I'm fine! What about you?" The woman asked, not really allowing her to answer, "Have you broken up with that boyfriend of yours?"
"Ah, no. Why would I do that?" Alicia frowned her eyebrows.
"Well., because you said he isn't the one." Her grandma remembered, "So I thought you would break up with him."
"No, no." She shook her head, "Thomas is a good guy. He treats me well. Isn't that what you want for me, grandma?"
"Oh, Alicia." Amelia sighed from the other side, "I just want you to be happy."
"I am."
"You don't sound happy, you didn't look happy either." The woman pointed out, "Thomas can be the most respectful boy on Earth but if he doesn't make you happy, what's the point?"
"I – I'm just..." Alicia swallowed, then sighed loudly, "I'm just so confused, grandma."
"Love is hard to find, my sweet girl." She told her, "Love isn't what everyone makes of it. Love isn't perfect. Love is an commitment to an imperfect person. When you see all the ugly parts of the other person and you still want to stay, you still love them. Do you think your grandpa is perfect? Dear God, he isn't. Not even close!"
"But what if..." The brunette hesitated, "it is just too much trouble? What if I get hurt?"
"Darling, but what if you don't?" Amelia chuckled after, "Love is supposed to be scary."
