I sighed pulling into the free parking space. I brought the girls with me to my cousins third birthday party. I hadn't seen some of my family in a while so I decided to go. We entered the Chuck E. Cheese's, our ears filling with child laughter and screaming. I payed for us, buying 200 tokens for the games. Walking around, I found my family seated at a long table made of smaller tables. My mom noticed me, rushing over to hug me.
"Where's Lucia and Gabriella?" I asked. "I've no idea, they've been playing games for hours," she replied. "Anyways, mom these are my friends. Lauren, Camila, Ally, Dinah, and Normani," I said. She smiled, shaking hands with each of them. She gave me a specific look. This look meant 'so who's the girlfriend?'. I nudged her, telling her to knock it off.
Out of nowhere my cousin Fabian, ran up to me, demanding to be picked up. Fabian was one of the younger kids with separation anxiety. He never played with any of the other kids and stay with the adults. I picked him up, showering him with kisses.
"Guys this is my cousin, Fabian. Say hi Fabian," I said. "Hi," he shyly spoke, waving shortly. The cooed over him, saying he was adorable. They never called me adorable. Jerks. He squirmed out of my arms, walking over to Lauren. Begging to be picked up, she smiled, happy he'd chosen her. I sat them down at the table, leaving shortly to find my sisters.I found Lucia and Gabriella arguing over tokens at the basketball game. "We have to split them equally," Lucia said. "Equally my ass, you used majority of them," Gabriella argued, snatching the cup of tokens from her hand. Sneaking up to them, I grabbed to cup from Gabriella's hand. "What the hell?" She screamed. Realizing it was me, their eyes lit up, ceasing their argument. "Y/N, don't do that. You scared the hell out of me," she said, punching my arm. "That was the point. Come with me--both of you, I want you to meet my friends," I said. "You actually have friends? That's a shocker," Lucia teased.
The three of us walked back to the table. They were so caught up in how cute Fabian was, they hadn't realized I'd came back. "Ahem," I said, clearing my throat intentionally. Dinah looked up at us gasping hard. "Oh my god," she exclaimed. The rest of them looked up, exhibiting the same expression. Lucia, Gabriella, and I were triplets--identical triplets. "Meet my sisters Lucia and garbage," I joked. Gabriella frowned, grabbing my arm and twisting it. "I-I meant Gabriella...Jesus," I winced. She was always the violent one. She released my arm, shoving me towards the table. We all sat down, staring a conversation.
"So, who was born first?" Lauren asked. "Me," I called out. They both slapped me in the very back of my head. "I was, our mom was supposed to have twins. The doctors somehow didn't see a third baby during the pregnancy and Y/N just showed up," Lucia said. I frowned, feeling slightly exposed. Camila teased me, poking me in the cheek. I slapped her finger away. We spent the next twenty minutes telling stories of our childhood.
I'd gotten slightly pissed off that they continuously brought up embarrassing stories about me. I get it that it's what families do when they meet someone you're close with but most of those situations were personal. Dinah put her arm around my neck, feeling how hot my neck had gotten. "We're going to the bathroom--be back in a few," she said, standing me up. She dragged me to the bathroom, pushing me up against the wall. "You okay? You're burning up," she said. "I'm...I'm good, I'm good," I repeated, punching my palm. "You don't need to get so mad, it's a sibling thing to embarrass each other," she said. "I know but they're just being dicks," I replied. "Then talk shit back, don't just sit there and get mad."
We returned to the table during another story. "...and it was the funniest thing seeing her cleaning the house like crazy so she wouldn't get in trouble," Lucia laughed. "My mom found out about the party anyways and Y/N had to clean the house inside out by herself," Gabriella added. The girls laughed, realizing I'd returned. "Yeah it because someone snitched. Isn't that right Gabriel?" I teased. Lucia and Gabriella gasped, Gabriella's mouth agape. Lucia and I burst into laughter, remembering the embarrassing story.
When our laughter ceased, I explained the reason behind it. "So in middle school Gab had a huge crush on this kid. She told him that she liked it him and he said he's into masculinity so she went around calling herself Gabriel for half the school year. She convinced our mom to let her cut her hair short. He was so embarrassed he told the entire cafeteria he was gay and she cried the rest of the entire way home," I explained. We all laughed, except Gabriella. She sat there, her face extremely red. "It's not funny, I was in sixth grade I didn't know what he meant," she said. "Aww its okay. No need to be embarrassed we're just having fun," I said.
Gabriella pouted, bringing up a story about Lucia. This started an argument between them. I fist bumped Dinah discreetly. Lauren noticed our interaction, scolding me for starting the argument. "Break it up or you're both getting left here," she said. I grabbed our cup of tokens, tossing them in the air. "Free tokens!" I yelled. Before I knew it, a crowd of random kids ran over, scurrying to pick up the tokens. Their argument ceased as they ran to get tokens themselves. "Problem solved," I said, kicking my feet up. "You're an idiot," the girls said slapping me simultaneously.
