It was after the war. Percy and Annabeth were asleep in their different cabins.
Annabeth jolted awake. It was 1:27 am and she bent over her own knees. The whole world was spinning, screaming. So much screaming.... She ran to the bathrooms.
Annabeth spent the next few minutes throwing up everything she had eaten at dinner. Shaking she got up and rinsed out her mouth. She was home, she was back at camp with everyone. She had Percy and Percy had her... Oh gods... Percy... What if... No they were back and safe...but... She had to check on him just to be sure. So she slipped out of her dorm using her Yankee cap.
A few minutes and she was peaking inside cabin three. The lights were out and she could only make out the shaking shape on the bed thanks to the light from the fountain. The form on the bed was shaking and Annabeth could barely hear soft sobs...
She took off her cap and slowly moved forward. "P-Percy?" Annabeth muttered holding back tears. The boy on the bed looked up startled. He threw his hand to the lamp by his bed and turned it on.
"Annabeth?! Wh-what are you doing here!?" Percy rubbed his eyes and looked her over. She had on an old camp shirt and shorts. Annabeth also ran her eyes over Percy. He wasn't wearing a shirt and had blue boxers on. Both let out sighs to fine the other okay.
Annabeth let out a shuttering sob and threw herself into Percy's already open arms. Had they both not had nightmares she probably would have bothered to be embarrassed about him only being in his boxers.
But Percy just held her and rubbed small circles on her back. Mumbling soothing words as Annabeth cried into his shoulder. She wrapped her arms around his waist and he wrapped his arms around her.
They just sat like that for quite sometime.
"It... It... I don't..." Annabeth mumbled.
"Shh... It's OK we're home now." Percy said with a quiet assured-ness.
Annabeth and Percy just held each other until they both passed out.
In the morning Annabeth woke up surrounded by warmth. She mumbled as she snuggled closer to said warmth. That's when her eyes flew open. She was greeted with the image of a sleeping Percy.
His hair was tossed over his eyes, his mouth was slightly parted as he breathed deep and even. Annabeth's eyes trailed down and she blushed. He wasn't wearing a shirt so she saw his muscles and the tiny scars that littered his skin.
Absentmindedly Annabeth touched one of the bigger scars. She blushed when she caught what she was doing. So she went back to looking at his face, that's when she noted how his arms were wrapped around her waist. He was so sweet he had held her all night after her nightmare. That's when she remembered he had also had a nightmare.
She looked at her boyfriend with saddened eyes and that's when his eyes opened slightly. Sea green met stormy grey and he frowned.
When Annabeth let her confusion show Percy mumbled. "You look sad. What's up?" He asked as he pulled her closer with one hand and propped his head up with the other.
"Oh nothing just... You had a nightmare last night and I hate... I hate that you have them." Annabeth said and a single tear rolled down her cheek.
Percy wiped away the tear with his thumb. "You had one too Wise Girl. I... If you need to talk about it. Just know I'm here for you Annabeth, and we are never being separated again." Percy said it with such conviction it made Annabeth smile. "See that's more like my Wise Girl." He thumped her nose and she batted away his hand giggling.
"You are such a Seaweed Brain!" She giggled smiling at him. "And I believe that we will never be separated again. Because I believe in you Percy." She rested her cheek on his chest and wrapped her arms around his waist. He mirrored her but had his head resting on the top of her head.
And that's how Annabeth started sneaking into cabin three at night so she and Percy could sleep peacefully.
