"Stay on guard, Sarem. I can feel the monster's malice all around me. He could strike at any moment."
Sam breathed in deep and searched the area for whatever threat Ji was sensing. The mound of rubble that Sam had mistaken for a landform on the other side of the pit shook and started to rise.
"The malice is all in front of you, human. Focus on my hatred as I tear your cursed bodies to pieces."
The gravel-filled voice was coming from the rising pile and two large gigantic stone stakes burst out of its front while six more appeared behind those. Behind the creature's body a Soul Barrier formed as the creature burrowed its front legs into the ground and dragged itself forward. Its body was a strange amorphous shape that reminded Sam of a trash bag thanks to all the hair covering it and it was covered in dust and grime.
"Your race of deceivers and betrayers will be wiped out by the curse and those that remain will fall prey to my contagion. Only then will this world be made right."
Pebbles and stones tumbled down the creature's body as it struggled forward. Sam used his description vision to get a glimpse of what he was up against. This was indeed his target, Arachne the Cursed, and he had a very long health bar.
Ji leaned over and whispered, "Sarem, do you have a strategy in mind for this fight?"
"I'm not sure yet. Since I haven't seen how he fights, I don't know what to expect. For now we should attack him from both of his sides at once. Maybe it'll throw him off. We can adjust after that."
"You continue to impress me," Ji said smiling.
"Tell me that again once we're done," he said before advancing. He moved cautiously, staying well away from Arachne's front legs.
"The Soul Whispers tell me your names, Sarem the Sanguine and Ji the Dragon of the East. I can read your souls and feel your malice. Your kind will never take me by surprise again."
Sam used Surikaeretsu to dodge out the way as Arachne tried to skewer him with its leg and ran to his side. He wasted no time before stabbing into Arachne's body repeatedly. Arachne tried to skewer him with another of its legs, but Sam was just too fast for him.
He was getting more leery of the fight the more Arachne's HP dwindled. A swerve would be coming but what was it? It didn't take long for his curiosity to be answered, as small wisps of blue light floated from Arachne's body before locking on to Sam and hurtling towards him. He dodged all but one, which struck him in the shoulder and caused mild pain. He lost less than a tenth of his HP.
Sam went back on the offensive, dodging the light barrage of projectiles, and peppering Arachne's side with blows of his own.
"Bloodthirsty fools!" Arachne yelled as his body glowed with a bright blue light. "I will not let you continue this charade, get away!"
Arachne exploded sending waves of his blue soul aura all around the room. Sam was thrown backwards into the wall and hit hard. The blast and impact drained a sixth of his HP. He took a swig of Soul Fire to stay topped off at full HP. Arachne's HP continued ticking down with Ji still attacking on its other side. He called out to her to confirm.
"Ji, are you okay?"
"Yes! Don't let up!"
Sam dashed forward, but was blocked by one of Arachne's legs. There was a statue of a man in front of the demon. The monstrous spider opened its mouth, a vicious portal filled with rows of teeth, and sucked a bright white mist out of the statue then crushed it under his leg. He appeared to be rejuvenated after that.
