Adela spent a great deal of her time thinking about what Jose had said about their unborn child while she was shopping. He was always acting distant when she brought up the baby as a topic. She was worried because in a week or two, the baby would join them and she would not allow him to behave in any way he liked. Her mind drifted back to yesterday when she forced him to follow her for the appointment. She didn't want to know the sex of the baby. She wanted it to come as a surprise. Jose had acted as if nothing they said during the appointment was none of his business. He just sat still going through his phone.
When they returned, she had shouted at him and smashed his phone in rage. Now they were not speaking to each other. He hadn't even said a word to her this morning when she apologised. She asked him for some money to go shopping for their child and he gave a card not saying a single word to her. She was frustrated.
As she stood at the checkout, she felt the hairs on the back of her neck rise. She felt as if someone was watching her and she couldn't place it. She knew Jose had instructed some of his men to follow her, not that she was familiar with them but they never made her feel this way.
Oh God! She needed to get out of here. One of the men, Santiago she guessed, was by her side immediately.
"Ma'am are you okay?" He asked, looking around. He could tell she was worried from the look on her face.
It took a while before her eyes focused on him. She began nodding her head.
"Y_y_yes, I don't know. I have this feeling. " She said, still looking around. She was very uncomfortable and scared. She wanted to go home."Okay. Do you want to leave these things and head home?" " He said after speaking into the microphone on his jacket.
Adela looked at the line. It was still long like four people. She could order all these stuff online but she had wanted to go through the task of shopping for her baby. She nodded her head a little sad.
On their way to the car, in the parking lot that was when she was approached by this gentleman. He was tall and strikingly handsome. He had dark brown hair that was pulled back. His blue eyes pierced into hers as he sought her out but Santiago and the others was not letting him near her at all. She wondered what he wanted.
"Santiago!" She called and he walked to her.
"I want to know what the gentleman wants. ""Ma'am we were strictly instructed by Mr Rodriguez not to let any stranger near you. " Santiago said shaking his head at her request.
"Does it look like I care? Does he look like any harm?" She hissed. Did Jose think she was a prisoner?
She walked past all the guards to meet the man who wanted to see her.
"Hello. How can I help you?" Adela said giving her a smile.
The man stretched out his hand and when she placed her hand in his, he kissed her knuckles very softly. Her smile widened.
"Ahh I think it is me that needs help from your captivating beauty. Michelangelo Gonzalez. " A blush covered her cheeks as she withdrew her hands.
"Adela Pe_Rodriguez." She said.
"Wow. Looks like someone already captured you. " He said as he looked at her diamond wedding ring.
