"I'm fine, Adela. " Jose said for the umpteenth time. They were already home. He had been discharged when he woke up. Not that he was discharged. He insisted on going home. Adela was not in support of it.

"Jose. No. You didn't even allow the doctor to check if you were alright. " Adela said, angrily following him.

"It was just a bullet, Adela. Lord knows how many bullets I have had to remove on my own alone. " Jose said as he made his way to the bed.

Adela only stared at him angrily. He was being such a hard head about this and she didn't like it one bit.

"Come here. " He said, eyeing her after making himself comfortable on the bed.

Adela reluctantly made her way to him. He pulled her onto his lap.

"I know you're worried but I'm fine. Everything's good. Now go and get me something to eat. I am starving. " Jose said, kissing her lips lightly.

"By the way, Rosa was very upset when you were away she only wanted to be with her daddy. " Jose said smiling at her.

"Oh yes, your parents will probably bring her over tonight. She was more comfortable with your mom and dad. " Adela said, smiling.

Jose nodded his head. Alfonso was right. Adela had spent her entire time beside him. She really loved him.

"I'll be right back." She said while he was still deep in thought.

Jose thought back to the time when Michelangelo took her. When she had called him. His heart had been beating so fast and he had never felt that bad before. It was like something was really missing. Just when he saw her again, right before he got shot that was when he realised he loved her. He had yet to tell her. Yet she always told him. She had done a lot of things for him. Giving him her virginity. Her heart. Rosa. And lastly making him acknowledge his parents again. It was all because of her he forgave them. Adela came into his life and changed everything. He was really lucky to have someone like her. He knew what he had to do.

Not long, Adela came back. She brought in a tray of spaghetti Bolognese.
"Ready!!" She said as she walked to him. The smile on her face made her beauty radiate and shine.

Jose took the tray for her and kept it aside. He wanted to talk to her first.

"Adela. There are some things I haven't said to you. I think this is the right time." He paused taking her hand.
"I know it's not every seventeen year old's dream to have a kid. You probably still think you have a lot ahead of you and you're not ready for that life or the married life. We were both coerced into this marriage and I want to tell you that I don't regret it. You are the best thing that has happened to me and I want you to know that I love you and I wouldn't want to lose you. You have entirely made a difference in my life and I'm glad I can call you my wife. I love you, baby. " Jose said looking into Adela's tear filled eyes.

Adela only let out a sob before she wrapped her arms around his neck. She was literally crying in his shoulder. He wondered if he had said some thing wrong.

"Adela. Are you okay?" He asked pulling her back.

She nodded her head looking at him.

"I_I__just....oh I love you so much. "She said hugging him again.

Everyone had already gathered at the back. Today was Rosa's first birthday and she was already taking little steps.

She smiled when she saw everyone. She might not have known what today was but she was very happy.

Jose had his arm wrapped around his wife's waist. Her stomach was already protruding at six months. They were very happy to expecting their second child and everyone was surprised. They had thought they would wait at least two or three years but just like the first pregnancy this one was unexpected too.

"I want to thank my lovely wife. " Jose began after everyone had quieted down. Adela was already as red as a tomato.

"Without her, we would not be here to celebrate this day with Rosa. I know sometimes we make a lot of mistakes in life but we just need to learn that everything happens for a reason. So everyone today we are not only celebrating a one year old but a lovely wife called Adela Rodriguez. " Jose said and everyone applauded him.

Bianca and Anthony were both proud of the man he had become. Octavio did not regret one bit that he had let his precious daughter marry Jose.

Michelangelo was already forgotten months later. The bullet had landed in his arm but he had survived. He was already far away from them. His father had forced him to get help from a qualified shrink.

Adela kissed her husband's lips just before he headed for work. His hand caressed her rounded stomach. Their baby boy would join them in a month and they were happily waiting for his arrival. Especially Jose.

"Dada. " Rosa came wobbling into their room and Jose immediately picked her up. She had started walking a month ago but Jose being her father was still afraid of her falling.

"Rosa. I'm going to work. Now you have to be good to mommy and Margo." Jose said with Rosa on his hip as he walked out of their bedroom.

Adela watched them with a grin on her face. He always talked to her like she understood everything he said and it made her smile. She remembered a time where Jose would not even want to be close to her when she was pregnant but now he was the one so excited about the baby and it warmed her heart.

Jose and Adela enjoyed their life together. It didn't matter that he was so many years older than her all that matters was their love kept growing stronger each day.
