Today was that day. The day that Jack would be leaving. The day that even if I was told 3 years ago I would never be prepared for.
"I'm gonna miss you." Jack said, stepping into the limo and pulling me with him. I sat next to him and laid my head on his shoulder.
"I miss you already." I responded.
"I know it'll be hard but we're gonna make this work." Jack whispered kissing my head.
"I know." I whispered back.
"I promise we'll talk every night." I smiled and looked up at Jack.
"Okay." I was trying not to cry so I laughed, tears flowed down my face. Silent tears.
"Don't cry." Jack whispered as he wiped my tears away.
"It's only 3 weeks." He said. I know that it's not a long time and all but it still worries me. This is the first time that Jack and I have been separated for more then 2 days. I am so used to walking to school with him in the mornings and going to the dojo and Phil's with him after school.
"We gotta get going." Jacks dad called out as he climbed into the limo.
"Bye Jack." I said and kissed his cheek. Jack shook his head at me.
"Goodbyes are too hard Kim. This isn't goodbye this is see you later." I smiled and kissed him one last time before I got out of the limo. Jack was still holding my hand when I was getting out but let go once I took a step back.
"See you later Jack." I whispered as the door shut and the limo pulled away.
I walked home in silence, ignoring any calls I got as I walked. I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone right now, not even Jack. When I got home my mom pulled me into a hug and kissed my head.
"I know this is hard on you Kim and I understand why but think on the bright side. When he gets back you know he will have something planed fore you guys." She said.
"I know." I said.
"How about we go and get you some new clothes, maybe that will cheer you up." She offered. So we did. I got a few new outfits and a couple pairs of shoes.
When school started I began hanging out with Grace and Jocelyn ( Jack's sister) and the guys more. Jocelyn has been staying at my house because both of Jack's parents went with him. Jocelyn, Grace and I all started cheerleading. I was a cheerleader for a while before Jack moved to Seaford.
I have been doing okay without Jack but then again it's only been 5 days. After school I went to cheer practice ad then went to the dojo afterwords. After karate practice I jogged home and ran up to my room.
I sat in my room with my phone right next to me and watched tv. I was waiting or Jack to call for about an hour until my mom called me down to eat. I quickly ate my food an ran back up to my room, sitting in silence awaiting that one ring tone.
He still hasn't called and it's 10:30 so I just decided to go to sleep. I changed and brushed my teeth then slipped under the sheets of my bed. I fell asleep pretty quickly but was woken up at 1 o'clock. It was Jack calling me. I quickly sat up and answered the phone.
"Hey!" I exclaimed tiredly.
"Hey, sorry I didn't call earlier, I just got back to my hotel room. I was gonna call you while I was in the limo but my parents came with me to the studio today." Jack said.
"It's okay." I replied.
"So, what's new?" Jack asked.
"Not much has changed since we talked yesterday but I did official join the cheerleading team today." I told him.
"Cool, I was thinking about trying out for the basketball team when I got back." Jack said.
"You should. I think you would be great at basketball." I said.
"You think so?" Jack asked.
"Yeah."
"Okay, I'll try out for basketball as long as you do basketball cheerleading and not just football." He offered.
"Okay." We talked for a while after and then I went to sleep.
2 WEEKS LATER
"So Jack will be back in two." Jocelyn asked with that Brewer smirk. "Are you excited?" She asked, taking a bite of her frozen yogurt.
"Yeah." I replied.
"I think we should play a prank on him." Grace joined in.
"We should but what would we do?" I asked.
"We could 'buy' you a fake plain ticket and tell him your going on a family vacation right when he gets back." Grace said.
"Or we could put hair dye into his shampoo." Jocelyn offered.
"As long as it's not permanent I like that one." I said.
"But how would we do that?" Jocelyn asked. "Jack's bedroom door is always locked and I know for sure that he took all his hair products with him.
"Well his bedroom window is always open so you could distract him while I climb in." I offered.
"That could work but I still have two questions." Jocelyn stated. "One, How do you plan on climbing through his window when it's on the second floor, and two, How do you know that his bedroom window is alway open.
"One, I am a black belt I think I can handle some moss and a wall. Two, Jack and I are as close as two people can be, you really don't think that I would know that he prefers to leave his window open?" I retorted.
"I get that you guys are dating but why does it so much more creepy then other peoples relationships?" Grace asked.
"I don't know. Maybe it's because we're not just boyfriend and girlfriend we're also best friends." I replied.
"You guys act creepy." I swear sometimes Grace can be so repetitive that it makes you want to hurt her.
"I disagree." Jocelyn stated. "I think it's great that Jack finally found a girl that he actually likes and cares about."
"What do you mean?" I asked confused.
"He's dated a few girls, we all know that but he never once came home jumping up and down until you guys started dating." Jocelyn replied. "You really bring out the better side in him too, he's really, really nice to me now and I think it's because you make him really happy." I shook my head as if saying there has to be something else going on.
"I doubt it's because of me." I said.
"Trust me it is." Grace said.
"Kim you even got him into music again." Jocelyn said.
"I don't think it was because of me." I challenged.
"Whatever, believe what you want." Jocelyn responded.
"So anyway, what time is he supposed to be back?" Grace asked.
"His flight is supposed to land at 3:52" I said with certainty. "p.m" I added.
"Okay then." Grace said quietly.
I scrunched up my eyebrows. "What?"
"Nothing." Grace sighed.
"Whatever, so is plan pink a go?" I replied.
"Yup, you climb into his room while I distract him and Grace you should help Kim set up a camera for when he discovers that his hair is pink." Jocelyn stated.
"Okay but Kim is gonna have to throw a rope down or something cuz I can't climb a house like she can. " Grace said.
"Okay." I replied.
