Right When You Think Life Is Good

Chapter 18: Oops, my bad

"I would love that." Jack smiled. "Your songs are amazing." I blushed a dark red.
"You think so?" I asked. Jack nodded. "I always thought my songs were stupid." I admitted.
"Well you thought wrong." I smiled
"Thanks." I whispered.
"So, let's get to that movie." He stuck out his hand for me to grab and intertwined our fingers. I led the way out of the house and down the street.
"I like it when it's just the two of us." Jack stated.
"Yeah, me too." I pecked his cheek. We continued to make small talk until we reached the theater.
"I'll go buy the tickets, wait here." I sat down on a near by bench. I knew the ticket line was going to take a while because, 'The Fault In Ours Stars' just came out so there's a lot of people at the theater right now. As I was waiting a guy with short blonde hair came over and sat right next to me.
"Hi, I'm Mason." He held his hand out and I shook it.
"Uh, Kim" I responded.
"That's a nice name is it a nickname or your real name?" He asked.
"A nickname." I said, not taking my eyes off of my lap.
"What is it short for?" He asked.
"Kimberly." I answered.
"Well, Kimberly, would you like to see a movie with me?" Mason asked.
"Um, I'm actually here with someone, sorry." Jack then walked over and grabbed my hand, pulling me off of the bench.
"Oh, it's okay." Mason shrugged. I waved as we walked away.
"Do you want any popcorn or candy?" Jack asked.
"Yeah, why not." We walked over to the concession stand and asked for a medium popcorn a large soda and snocaps. I pulled out my wallet to pay for everything but Jack just ripped it out of my hands. He then pulled out his own wallet and handed the money to the guy behind the counter. Jack gave me my wallet back once we reached the theater.
We watched the movie and I thought it was amazing. Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort nailed Haze and Augustus. Shailene kept saying that you would walk out of the theater with a different mind set on everything and she was spot on. I have a new found respect for everyone, not just kids with disabilities. The movie really made the book come alive.
"That was the best movie I have ever seen." Jack stated as we exited the theater.
"It would have been a lot better if you read the book." I stated.
"Well maybe you can read it to me and then I'll watch the movie again" Jack laughed.
"Okay but you can't make fun of me if I cry." I stated. I looked down at my phone, hearing a beep. It was Jocelyn telling me that everything was set up perfectly. Jack and I continued to talk as we walked to his house.
When we got back to Jacks house I ran to Jocelyn and Grace. We whispered about everything for a while.
"Well, I should probably return home to my annoying brothers." I joked.
"Yeah, I have to unpack and take a shower." Jack said. I smiled in my head but showed no emotion on the outside, I hope.
"I'll see you guys tomorrow." I gave everyone one a hug and kissed Jack before I left.
When I got home I ran straight to my room and waited for Grace to text me.
'Just got in the shower' My phone lit up as Grace texted me.
'Sweet, text me when you here a scram :)' I replied. I waited around my room until I got the text saying that he was out of the shower and that they heard him scream. I ran downstairs and into the living room where I saw my brothers sitting on the couch.
"Where are you going?"Kody asked.
"Jack's house." I replied. "You guys should come, it's going to be hilarious."
"What'd you do?" Kenton asked.
"You didn't hear?" I asked confused.
"Hear about what?" Kody asked.
"Just come on, you'll see." I laughed. I ran out the front door with Kody and Kenton right behind me. when we reached Jack's house I just walked right through the front door and found Jocelyn, Jake and Jack yelling in the kitchen.
"Why would you do this! I know that you guys enjoy pranks but this isn't funny." Jack yelled.
"Your right." I stated. "Its hilarious." I laughed.
"Let me guess, you were in on this?" Jack asked.
"In on it. Jocelyn Grace and I were the ones that came up with the whole idea." I told him.
"You have to admit, it is really funny." Kenton laughed.
"It probably would be really funny if I didn't have an interview on live tv tomorrow." Jack yelled.
"Ahh, you did tell me about that. I'm really sorry I completely forgot." I apologized.
"It's okay, it was well thought out, but you all owe me." Jack said. I walked over and gave him a hug.
"Your too soft Kim." Jocelyn stated.
"Leave me alone." I joked.
We talked for a while and then me and my brothers went home.

I woke up early this morning because Jack wanted me to go to the interview with him. I got dressed, ate breakfast, and waited for Jack and his family to show up. They pulled up in front of my house in a limo. I ran out and hopped in the limo. Jack's mom got out of her seat next to Jack and motioned for me to sit. I sat down and Jack grabbed my hand and started playing with my fingers.
"Nervous?" I asked.
"Yeah. How'd you know?" Jack asked. I pointed at my hand and smiled. "oh, sorry." He started to let go of my hand.
"No it's okay, I don't mind." I told him and he started playing with my fingers again. When we reached the studio there were a ton of screaming fans and photographers trying to get to the limo. Jack put on sunglasses and a hat and held my hand tightly. We all started making our way out of the limo and walked swiftly into the building.
Everyone, except for Jack sat backstage, watching the show.

JACK'S P.O.V

"Wow!" Chelsea Briggs said as I walked out. I laughed and gave a few people high fives on my way. I took a seat across from Chelsea after I gave her a hug.
"Okay, so as we all know, you just released you first album, finished your first tour, and started working on more music already." Chelsea said. "What's it like?"
"It's all really exciting. I never knew that my music would take off like this. I also didn't realize just how busy life gets." I said.
"So in terms of new music, what can your fans look for?" Chelsea asked.
"Well, I actually just got back from New York yesterday and while I was there I was working with Ludacris, and Jason Derullo on new music and we're planning on showing off some dance moves and stuff so, you know. We're going to have you know, really upbeat music out soon." I smiled.
We went through a few more questions and conversations and then the dreaded question came up.
"So I think all of your fans want an answer to this question." Chelsea began. "What is with the hair?"
"Yeah, I figured that question would come up." I laughed. "It was actually a prank." I stated.
"Oh, who did this?" Chelsea asked.
"Um, my siblings, Kim and my friend Grace." I said.
"Are they here?" Chelsea asked.
"Kim, and my siblings are here, Grace isn't."
"Well, we have a few minutes, why don't we bring them out." Chelsea suggested.
"Why not." A few seconds later Jake, Jocelyn and Kim ran out. The crowed started cheering for them.
"Okay, for those of you that don't know, this is my sister Jocelyn." I pointed at Jocelyn. "This is my brother Jake." I pointed at Jake. "And this is my girlfriend Kim."
"So, why'd you guys decided to dye his hair?" Chelsea asked.
"Well, Jocelyn wanted to get back at Jack for all the pranks that him and Jake pull on her and I thought his hair would be the perfect target for it because he is obsessed with his hair." I stated.
"Why pink?" Chelsea asked.
"We chose pink because out friend Jerry had got his hair dyed pink before and Jack made fun of him so we thought we would give him a taste of his own medicine." Jocelyn replied.
"How'd he react when he found out?"
"Well nobody really saw his reaction but we did hear him scream." Jake laughed. When the interview was over we got back in the limo and rode home.

SO BEFORE ANYONE ASKS, NO, I HAVE NOT SEEN 'THE FAULT IN OUR STARS' YET BUT I CANT WAIT UNTIL IT COMES OUT. FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DONT KNOW, 'THE FAULT IN OUR STARS' WAS WRITTEN BY JOHN GREEN. ITS ABOUT TWO TEENAGERS THAT HAVE CANCER BUT THE STORY ISNT ABOUT CANCER. ITS MORE OF A LOVE STORY BETWEEN THE MAIN CHARACTERS, HAZEL GRACE LANCASTER AND AUGUSTUS WATERS. SO IF ANY OF YOU GUY HAVE READ 'THE FAULT IN OUR STARS', LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.
