CHAPTER FIVE: You can't stop me

-
Finn

My eyes fluttered blearily open. I hadn't gotten much sleep to say the least.

None, would probably be best to describe how much I actually got. I just couldn't sleep knowing Millie had disappeared on me like that.

It just wasn't like her to do things like that.

Push me away.
She never did that too me. We always talked things through but this time she didn't even wanna try to reason.

I felt a strange coldness tingle my leg suddenly and, I shot up expecting Millie only to be surprised with Ava instead. Her little blonde pigtails bouncing up as she tilting her head at me, a weird look on her face.

"Hi Finnie," she said quietly and her voice fell flat a bit making me frown, silently I usher her up on my lap.

"What's wrong munchkin?" Her small hands twisted shyly as, she messed with the bottom of my shirt not answering.

"What is it kiddo?" I ask once more and this time she replies.

"You made her sad."

There was no need to question the 'her' we all know exactly who that was anyways. But I pulled her closer and asked despite knowing already. "Who?"

"Millie. She's in the attic hiding. She hasn't done that in awhile...said she was thinking..." Ava said twisting around.

"Would you take me to her?"

She shook her head.

"She doesn't wanna see you right now. You made her sad remember?"

I nod, lips firming together. "Yeah I remember... tell her that I'm sorry, okay?"

"Okay Finnie," Ava smiled happily just as the door swung open to my mom.

"Finn it's already 10 you should get up!" She scolded lightly, stepping in my room before pulling back abruptly. "God your room is always so cold honey. Is there a draft in here or something?"

"It's fine mom don't worry about it. Actually I wanted to ask if I could go out with Noah today?" I partially lied but she didn't seem to notice and only grinned with a nod.

"Sure honey. What are you and him gonna do?" She asked.

"Oh you know... solve crimes," I joked but it wasn't really. But she didn't need to know that at the moment or ever in fact.

The door creaked suddenly and I felt Ava crawl out of my lap. "Millie!" She screamed and I jumped up immediately but by the time I looked she was gone.

I groaned loudly only to interrupted by my mom who touched my shoulder. A look of pure shock and concern taking over her face. "Finn are you okay?"

"Fine," I replied quickly. "I just um- I thought I saw something you know?"

I could tell she didn't believe me but she seemed to drop it thankfully. "Okay honey. Well get dressed and have fun! Just be back before seven remember, okay?"
