CHAPTER 10 - Ice

I could hear Moeru talking, but my mouth wouldn't open. It was black around me for the most part, but I could see fizzling black and white surrounding intermittently. It looked like the Sakamaki house, but with a lot more people.

"The party I saw the first night?" I thought. I suddenly felt my body falling before I slammed into something solid. When I opened my eyes I was laying on a couch.

"Are you alright miss?" A young man, probably a couple years older than me, was leaning over me slightly, his eyes glittering with concern. He actually looked a lot like Subaru and a little like the other Sakamaki brothers. He was dressed in a nice black suit.

"I'm fine. Thank you for your concern." I quickly sat up and he smiled slightly in relief.

To my surprise instead of my usual black jeans and black no-sleeved turtleneck, I was in a floor length black evening gown. "May I request your name?" The man asked.

"If I may request yours." I replied.

He laughed. "Sakamaki, Yuki." He said with a bow.

"Gosuto, Aisu." I replied, bowing my head back.

"Gosuto? You're not the daughter of Lord Seishin Gosuto, are you?" Yuki said surprised. I smiled slightly, but didn't say anything.

"I can't tell him I have no idea who that is. Though he has the same last name as me..." I thought.

"Pardon me, that was rude. This is supposed to be an anonymous party after all." He said quickly, as if noticing my discomfort.

"I apologize as well. I should not have requested your name." I said. He waved me off then glanced down the hall. I leaned forward to see what he was looking at.

Down the hall was the ballroom with a number of adults dancing. I recognized the man in the middle: he was the man who I saw get stabbed. Currently he was happily dancing with a women, likely his wife.

Next to them was another pair that I felt I knew. They both looked familiar to me. "Who is that? Who does he... oh. He looks a little like me." Suddenly the man in that pair froze and then collapsed.

"Lord Gosuto!" A man in a butler uniform ran up and caught him, gently lowering him to the ground. Almost unnoticeably that man checked Lord Gosuto's heartbeat. He kept his hand on his wrist like Moeru did whenever I iced. Thinking about Moeru I noticed the butler looked a little like her.

"Shouldn't you go check on him?" Yuki asked.

"It's okay." I shook my head.

"If you're sure." He replied. Suddenly Lord Gosuto sat back up and everyone sighed a breath of relief. He looked at the butler who nodded slightly before Gosuto smiled and joked about something. The other adults laughed and the tense atmosphere vanished for the most part.

"Miss Aisu, there's something I want to show you. Would you care to come with me?" Yuki offered me his arm and I hesitantly took it.

He led me through the house and into the garden in the back, only the garden looked different. It was glowing, almost supernaturally, and it was gorgeous. "Wow." I said softly.

"What is it?" Yuki asked.

"This is amazing." I said. Music started playing and I could hear it through the window. "Surreal." I said softly.

"Isn't it? May I ask for a dance, Miss Aisu?" He offered a hand which I took. Instead of failing horribly like I expected I was able to dance with him easily. I liked the feeling.

We finished and he bowed as I curtsied. "Thank you..." I started to say when a scream interrupted me, coming from the ballroom. It was followed by a crash and glass came raining down on our heads.

Yuki covered me then stepped back. "Are you alright?" He asked. I nodded and looked behind him to see a man in a black cloak.

"Who are you?" I asked. When he looked at me my entire body froze, for two reasons. One was that the man before us was the killer that had gotten away. The second was that the man was identical to Hoseki. So much so I subconsciously whispered his name.

The man looked startled when I said it and turned to leave. "I won't let you go without an answer." Yuki suddenly grabbed his arm. The man who looked like Hoseki slashed him with an ivory white sword before running away and disappearing into the dark.

I stepped forward to help Yuki only to hear Moeru say my name. I looked around a little then noticed blood dripping off my fingers. I touched the cut on my lower arm, probably from the glass. Suddenly things started to flicker, fizzled out, and once again I was falling.

When I opened my eyes I was laying on the same couch as before, but this time Moeru was by my side and the Sakamaki brothers, excluding Reiji, were around me as well. As I started to wake back up Moeru was talking about our pasts.

"Mo...e...ru..." I said brokenly as I didn't want her to share anything more.

"Aisu!" She hugged me tightly. I could feel her shaking.

"I'm okay." I said quietly. "But that was weird. I wasn't watching, I was there." I explained.

"That explains the cut." Moeru said. I looked at my arm. The cut from the glass was there and blood was dripping down my arm.

"Oh, and I think your family, my family, their family, and Hoseki's family, or Hoseki himself, have some kind of connection." I added.

"What do you mean?" Ayato asked.

"In my vision I was at a party. Here. I think I met your ancestor, at least he looked a lot like Subaru. I think my ancestors were attendants at that party. I'm not so sure about these two, but I saw a man who looked a little like you Moeru who, as far as I can tell, was a butler to my family. And the murderer was Hoseki, or someone who looked very much like him." I added the last part softly.

"Murderer?" Laito sounded interested.

"If what I saw was night one of your ancestors was killed during the party." I explained.

"Okay, well, if that's the case then it looks like there's no choice." Moeru said.

"No choice?" Ayato asked. I already knew what she was going to say.

"We need to visit Hoseki." I said.
