I woke up to the sun's glaring rays. Damn, I need to ask this boy about getting curtains. I looked around to see that I was in my room.

*huh, I could've sworn I fell asleep on the couch last night*

Cameron probably carried me up.

*Or I'm a clueless sleepwalker who just happens to know how to climb stairs and tuck herself into bed*

Yeah, yeah I have strange thoughts, but in my defence, I just woke up and like most people my age. Me and mornings have a "complicated" relationship.

Finally dragging my sorry ass outa bed I went to the bathroom and decided to get ready for the day. I took a shower, got dressed, brushed my teeth, and went down to the kitchen.

The room I'm staying in is all the way at the end of the hall and looking into Cameron's room on my way downstairs I saw he wasn't there, in fact, I couldn't find him anywhere. And this house isn't the kind you could get lost in walking into the living room continuing my frantic search for him I found a note on the coffee table.

"Hey, had to head out early to run some errands. I'll be back later this afternoon, feel free to head out somewhere and you could get a feel of the place you're living in. Then maybe we could head out somewhere when I get back.

-Cameron"

I smiled at the note. He was right after all, I've been here a few weeks now and the only places I've been to are the grocery store, the mall, and Cameron's kitchen.

As I was heading out the door I heard my phone ring. I checked the caller ID but it was an unknown number. Hesitantly I answered.

"Hello?"

"Hey sweetie. Damn it's been a while huh?"

Oh no.

Cameron's P.O.V.

"Hey Jade I'm home."

No answer. Strange her phone's still on the coffee table. She probably just forgot it here, I thought, she'll be back soon.

Heading upstairs to my room I heard faint sobs coming out of Jades room. Slowly opening the door I saw her sitting on the edge of the bed crying... with a bleeding arm and a blade in her hand.

"What are you doing!" I exclaimed rushing to her.

"Seven days" she said.

"What?"

"I went seven days without harming myself. I went seven days without touching or even thinking about this blade."

Still stunned I asked, "then what pushed you over the edge?"

Silence was all I got.

"Jade?"

Still nothing.

"Jade" I said a little louder.

Again I was met with silence. She just stared at the wall unblinking and not speaking.

She just shook her head.

"I'm fine" she said.

"Bullshit! you're sitting on your bedroom floor crying after just causing self harm." I exclaimed.

How could she be okay with this? Acting like this is normal.

I took a deep breath and calmed down. Now as I really looked at her I could see how broken she really was. Gently moving her head so that she was leaning against me I just held her.

"You don't have to be strong all the time. It's okay to show some weakness sometimes. You're only human."

It was now that I felt her relax. It was now that I also saw the tears streaming down her face.

"shh. Shh. It's okay. It's all gonna be alright." I said.

"But what if it's not?" she asked me between sobs.

"Then we'll find a way. But first. You have to tell me what happened."

Pulling away and finally looking at me she said the words that I wished she would never have had to say again.

"My dad. He called me. He found me. I'm scared he's going to hurt me."

Bringing her back into my embrace I held her tight and whispered, "he's not getting anywhere near you. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you."

Truth was I was freaking out right there and then. But I knew she needed me to be strong right then. I couldn't let her down. I couldn't let her get hurt. She's been hurt when I wasn't around and no way in hell is she gonna get hurt while I'm here. I just can't let that happen. I can't.
