CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

The car took a few turns and stopped in front of an old gate. What is it with Chanyeol and old gates? We got out of the car and he gestured me to follow him. The gate led to a huge building which seemed quite old. I followed him inside and was mesmerized by the hugeness of the room. It was massive. He kept walking towards another door which was right across the room. Although bewildered, I kept following him slowly.

"This was my grandparents' home." He claimed as he was opening the bolts to the second door. I just nodded with my brows raised. *Wow, they had a great home.* I followed him inside that door. The room was filled with showcases and the showcases were stacked with various vintage items. They were all for display. I had never seen such a huge antique collection. I started taking in all the surroundings when my eyes fell on Chanyeol. He stopped to a corner of the room and was looking at something. He looked oddly emotional. I went close to him.

"So what are we here for?" I said softly.

"Nothing much. I come here often to check the collection."

"This is one sick collection, man! This is daebak! I haven't seen anything like this, ever."

"Of course you didn't. My grandparents collected things their whole life. This is just a part of their collection that I inherited. The rest is maintained in different other mansions by other family members."

"Wah, daebak! So all this is yours? "

"Yeah I think so."

"Awesome. Do you  like collecting?"

"No. I like taking care of what I have. Also, I don't have time or space to add more."

True. The whole place was already stacked. He moved away from his position and turned to look at other things. I leaned in closer to see what he was staring at. It was a beautiful diamond ring, worn by a mannequin hand. The ring looked heavy and vintage. It was gorgeous. There were two big sized diamonds which were surrounded by little ones. But one of those two bigger diamonds was missing. It looked perfectly imperfect.

"This ring is..." Quickly he turned towards me. "...beautiful."

"...What's so beautiful about that ring? It has such a big hole where there should've been a diamond. It's incomplete! Hence its ugly."

"No, you fool. That is what makes this ring perfectly imperfect."

"Fool? That's not me, that's you. Because you're not making any sense."

"You need to have a brain and a heart to understand things like this."

"Ohhoo~ since you  have 'a brain and a heart', please explain this to me." He mocked me.

"Okay so the missing diamond signifies that the ring-bearer is the lover of the person who gave the ring in the first place. Since diamonds represent 'love' and this love  completes the ring; the person wearing the ring completes both the ring and the person who gave the ring. Because the other diamond in the ring signifies the giver. Hence both the diamond in the ring and the 'diamond'  wearing the ring are two halves of the same ring which forms the whole universe of their love." I took a deep breath, and sighed. "...How romantic!"
