Chapter - 6
Discouraging Reunion

Today was the day.

At 1:00 pm they would play against Inashiro. After all of their hard work this past year, Seidou managed to make it to the finals once again. It was a rematch for last year, for Seidou had lost that year.

A certain pitcher was excited for the matchup. Kagami. She was on the edge of her seat because she was so excited to meet her former team. Especially, their ace, Narumiya Mei.

In her first year at Inashiro she had developed a tiny crush on the pitcher. She never told anyone and until today she still has that admiration for Narumiya. Despite not seeing him and the team for a certain amount of months, she knew that they haven't changed. At least that's what she thinks.

On the bus ride, Kagami sat beside the pitcher that was going to start. She glanced over at the male beside her. He was looking out of the window next to him, gawking at the scenery.

"Furuya," She started. The said pitcher turned his head towards Matsu in response of his name being called. "Good luck today. Inashiro has some scary batters." She let a small smile crawl onto her features, making a light shade of pink dust onto Furuya's cheeks.

"Um.. you used to go to Inashiro before, right?" He asks. His voice smooth but quiet. It was a little hard to hear him over the banter of the rest of the team going on. Since he was seated beside her she could make out what Furuya had said.

Kagami nods. "Yeah. So we kinda have an advantage since I know how the batters adjust and how their team as a whole operates." She smirked. "But they also know some stuff about my pitching.."

Furuya then had tons of questions for the girl. About Inashiro. "What was your position on the team?" He asked first.

Kagami shoved her hands in the pockets of her sweater. "Well, I wasn't really on the team. I was the assistant coach, so I got to go to their games." She started to remember things from her first year. "I was there when they won the finals against Seidou last year. I remember being so happy, but when I looked over at Seidou's side..." She paused.

Furuya stayed quiet as he waited for Matsu to continue. He already knew what she saw. He remembered seeing that on tv. One side was celebrating and the other was.... devastated.

"Seidou seemed broken. I haven't witnessed a team break down like that. Seeing high school boys bawl their eyes out because of a sport is amazing." Furuya suddenly noticed the small aura Kagami was giving off. "It shows how hard they've played. It also shows how much they need to improve. But it displays how much they love the game as well."

---

On the way, Furuya had dozed off. His head was resting on the window as Kagami watched the bubble that came out of his nose grow and deflate.

'How does that happen?' She thought, examining the bubble closer. She rubbed her chin as she attempted to pop it. In the end, Kagami didn't pop it, thinking that it would disturb his sleep.

---

As Seidou exited their bus, they were immediately met with a crowd of people. As the baseball team gathered in front of the bus, the crowd cheered, encouraging the players.
