“She…..died.”
It’s like a breath I don’t want to let out because it takes along with it the rest of my energy. I shudder, chest falls and rises in an attempt to capture something to sustain life. My lips move, open and I inhale as my head gently falls back until it meets the bark of the wood and I catch the sight of leaves swaying in the hot breeze.
“I know,” he breathes in raggedly and I can’t help but smile despite how horrible I feel right now.
Being outside underneath all of this sunlight, under this pretty blue sky, on this blanket that he took the time to spread out, in this park he had to convince me to come to is doing me no good. It might as well be nightfall with all of these emotions building up again, waiting to reach its climax.
“Can I get,
Can I get your attention
Pleaseeee?
See I don’t know,
I don’t know
What has come over me.”
Is there a radio playing somewhere?
I shrug out of my dejected slump and peer around for the tunes. I know who it is, it’s Mario, it has to be. His voice, that voice, that song, where is it? I smile as it continues and I sing along though I still can’t see where it’s coming from but it’s near. To the left is nothing, kids are playing, ragged powder puff girl and spider man tennis shoes pounding over fresh cropped green grass. Flashes of blonde hair, kinky hair, brown, white and red skin as they laugh and swing, slide down the big red slide that I’m still afraid, climbing on the jungle gym that I saw Darth Vader on.
I’m such an idiot, I laugh at myself when I catch Nelson moving his lips with a smirk on his face.
“So let me get this straight, you like Mario…and you can sing.”
The last of the lyrics fade away and he turns his eyes to me with a ghost of a smile, “It’s not Mario that I like.”
Good, that would be…hella homo.
“Then why are you singing his songs?”
He shrugs and gives me that same crooked smile, “I thought it might make you feel better. On your facebook it says that you and I quote ‘Really Loveeeeeeeeeeee Mario.’ “
It’s true, I love Mario. His voice just sounds wayyy sexy and the emotions he convey without the need for sex or how deep he’s going to get in it, that’s why I love him.
“Yeah, I like him a lil bit.”
“Your status every day this week’s been from a Mario song.”
“Soooo you’ve been stalking me on facebook?”
He leans back against the tree, “Nah, you just have a lot of status’s.”
“Who’s complaining?”
“Not me obviously.”
“Well then shut up.”
“Make me.”
It happened so fast, one minute I was rolling my neck and then the next I was trying not to stumble backwards. Nelson must have ran track in high school or something, his speed is impeccable because the minute he said ‘Make me.’ His face appeared just a few inches away from mines.
His cologne gently wafted under my nose as he inched closer, “Why you keep moving back? I don’t bite..yet.”
Is he…flirting with me?
