Anti-Virus and Sweet Blushes

I Could….Kick the mess out of this laptop and it wouldn’t even change. It just sits there on top of my bedside table with this screen full of pop ups. This stupid message just at the right corner of the screen keeps talking about multiple viruses’ threatening to infect my computer when it’s the virus all along.

Today Mickey isn’t my baby; it’s just a breeding ground for all kinds of malicious activity, that’s what the alerting message at the bottom of the screen tells me.

No Facebook today, no music today save for my blue chipped iPod laying on the floor. Shunned. It’s my day off from work and I can’t even enjoy it, because my computer is jacked.

I glare at Mickey and give him the finger, “Piece of crap.” I mutter.

The lady on the T.V is just as annoying. There’s this infomercial about losing weight and toning using some weird body motions. The blond lady looks like she’s having a seizure to me, her arms reach out and then hit her in the chest right before she kicks her legs out. I much prefer the traditional way; running, sit ups and all that crap that I haven’t done in a good four months.

Daddy’s gone this morning, it’s his day off and I know he likes to spend most of those away from the house. It’s not good for him to sit down too long, he thinks too much about what he’s lost.

I’m determined to rid myself of the virus, so I take my USB and head to Ashley’s room. She sleeps like a drunkard when she’s been out all night, instead of tapping away at her door I bang at it with two fists, beating away to some song. My hips swing as I hit at the door, and I drop a couple of times to match the beat.

The door swings open and she clutches at her head with a groan, “Yeah, what?” Her hair is a mess to say it politely, to say it truthfully she looks like a train wreck. It’s matted on one side and straight on the other save for a few crimped curls from sleeping too hard.

“Can I use your laptop for a minute?”

Ashley drops her hands to her side, still wearing the outfit she came in with the night before; black skinny jeans and a white tank top, “I guess.”

Pushing past her, I make my way to her laptop where it sits on top of her desk; silver chrome over work covered with pink and purple flowers. I settle into her desk before tentatively opening the laptop, “What’s your password?”

I know she won’t give it to me, it’s a trick I’m using to see how awake she is. Clearly she’s more awake than I’m aware of because she shoots me a look before turning the laptop to the side and typing in the password herself.

“Thank ya sis.” I coo.

Her reply to that is a soft thud to her bed and the sound of blankets rustling as she climbs back under the covers.

Within a few minutes I have everything I need to rid the treacherous Mickey of his virus; Malware bytes downloaded to my USB, a program to kill the virus and instructions on how to get rid of it using the programs. I shut down Ashley’s laptop and make my way back to my room, a little giddy to finally be able to use my laptop.

I sit down on my bed cross-legged and balance the laptop on my lap. There that stupid fake anti-virus is, still sending messages. Its cut off everything, I can’t even get onto the internet because of the ‘fake’ virus’s running amok. But I change that quickly; I pop the USB in and copy the two programs from my usb onto my desktop following the instructions. Selecting RKill I double click on the icon and allow it to do its thing for a few minutes. When a message from notepad pops up congratulating my success I select the Malware to restore everything. After maybe ten or less minutes the computer is back to its regular self.
