"Hey, um, Troy, I'm home now and we really need-"
"It's not fair!" You were cut off as you walked into the house only to hear Troy screaming at the top of his lungs. "Why the hell is she doing that without a second thought?!"
You sighed, wondering just how much he knew about the whole situation. You then let out another sigh as you saw that the living room floor was covered in all kinds of snacks. There were so many things that you loved about Troy, but his way of eating what seemed like an entire Thanksgiving's worth of snacks whenever he was upset was not one of those things.
"Troy, yelling isn't going to help you calm down." You sighed again, knowing that things were going to get out of hand if you didn't take control of the situation soon. "Now, tell me what's wrong in the form that isn't yelling."
Troy sighed as well as he ran a hand through his hair and threw whatever he was just eating onto the floor. "Well, Mary and I had a fight this morning because I saw a picture of her with another guy and he had his arm around her and I got really pissed off and then she got really pissed off and now we just got having this really long call where we talked about how Mark's mom is taking money from her money that she's supposed to be using for her husband's treatments and is instead using the money for her own selfish desires."
"Oh my God, how on earth could she even have the nerve to do that?!" You asked, trying to make it sound like you had zero idea about the knowledge that Troy had just obtained, but failing miserably.
"Wait, you already knew?!" Troy saw through your lie and started getting angry again. "If you knew, then why didn't you try and stop it?"
"Oh, yeah, like Mark's mom is going to listen to me if I ever even attempted to talk her into using the money for its intended purpose and like Mary's parents would believe a complete and utter stranger when I say, "Hey, you know the lady you've been giving money to in order to fund her husband's treatments? Yeah, that's not what she's using the money for. She's using the money to fulfill her own selfish desires." They wouldn't believe me. They would think that I'm fucking insane."
"Fine, fine. I guess you have a point." Troy sighed as he picked up the snack he had been eating off the floor and started eating it again."Also, I heard you got asked to Prom today. Do I even have to ask who the lucky guy is?"
"N-No." You started blushing as you recalled how August had asked you to Prom.
"I hope he takes you somewhere nice for dinner before Prom. Otherwise, he'll be hearing from me." Troy laughed a bit.
You were about to respond when you heard a knock at the door. Before you could tell Troy that you would answer it, he got up and opened the door, a bright smile forming on his face when he saw who the source behind the knocking was.
"Hey." He grabbed ahold of the person's hand as they stepped inside. You resisted letting out a groan as you saw Mary entering the house. "I'm really glad that you came over."
"And I'm really glad that you invited me to come over." You immediately turned away when you saw her leaning towards Troy. While you had seen a side to her you never even knew existed today when she had that talk with Mark that you eavesdropped on, you still were unsure about how you felt about her being with Troy.

Troy laughed a bit as he led her over to the couch and they sat down together. You couldn't help but let out a quiet laugh as you noticed that Troy's five-foot-eight figure still towered over Mary's five-foot figure. Mary was already pretty tiny, but Troy's height made her seem even tinier.
"So, you two both mean a lot to me in different ways." Troy looked over at you as he said, "(Y/N), you are like the little sister that I never had and Mary," He then looked over at the now black and red haired girl. "You are unlike any girl that I've ever met. I can't explain why or how I'm drawn to you, but I've been captivated since the start."
You groaned at just how cheesy Troy sounded. You wanted so badly that he sounded like he was from a romantic movie and that real life wasn't a romance movie. Besides, the last thing that you wanted to hear was him delivering those kinds of lines to Mary out of all people.
"Right back at you." Mary smiled and leaned towards Troy once again, but this time you forced yourself to not look away, which was a pretty big mistake.
"Well, anyway..." Troy continued once he and Mary managed to pry themselves away from each other. "Since you both matter to me very much and you both have dates for Prom, which I'm trying my best to push into the back of my mind in Mary's case since I know that she has to go with someone else due to the circumstances of a situation that she shouldn't even be in in the first place, I would really like it if you two went dress shopping together."
"Wait, what?!" You and Mary asked in disbelief at the same time as you pointed to each other as both of you added, "With her?!"
"Yes, of course." Troy laughed like none of this was that big of a deal. "You really think that I'm going to be any good at picking out Prom dresses for the two of you? I don't even match my socks for crying out loud!" He lifted up the ends of his jeans slightly to show his mismatched socks. "Besides, girls like shopping together. Well, that's what I've noticed, at least. Hell, girls like going to the bathroom together so it isn't that strange that they like shopping together."
"Troy, it really isn't a good idea for Mary and I to go shopping together." You said, hoping to convince him to not force you to go Prom dress shopping with Mary. "We go together like oil and water."
"Yeah!" Mary agreed, marking the first time that you two have ever agreed on anything. "She's so right! Come on Troy, you can come and help me pick out a dress and you can let (Y/N) do her own Prom dress shopping on her own or with someone else if she wants to bring someone else along."
Troy sighed. "Fine, how about this? If you two go dress shopping together, I'll give both of you money for your dresses."
"Really?" Mary asked, a smile instantly forming on her face. "Well, in that case, I suppose I can go Prom dress shopping with (Y/N)." Her smile then turned into a smirk. "But I also want something else from you later."
You resisted the urge to let out a groan. You swore that the only thing Mary ever wanted from Troy is to get into his pants, instead of vice-versa like one would usually expect. And, of course, Troy was okay with this, which didn't surprise you in the slightest. Drugs and food weren't the only things he was addicted to.
