Chapter 2
Neon lights flashed and flickered casting shadows and gave an eerie colorful vibe to all that were in its midst. Sweaty bodies danced with glory and writhed forming an atmosphere of lust and utter carelessness.
Zero leaned onto one of the stone pillars at the far end of the club with his hands crossed over his chest. He wore a bored expression, his angular face casted with shadows hiding his overall displeasure of having so many hands – female and male alike – brush over his skin trying their best to seduce him.
“Is it really necessary for me to go?” he had questioned. There were far better things he could think of to spend his limited free time on and that did not include going to a club in one of the worst parts of the district no less.
“Yes,” was the response he had gotten. “Spend time with us Zero, have some fun!” Liv had smiled throwing her blonde hair over her shoulder as she ushered him and three others out of Anubis’ main HQ.
“Kal isn’t going so why should I?” Zero asked feeling every bit like a child a far contrast to the leader he was assigned.
“Yeah, well Kal is older and besides his idea of a good time is training. Loosen up Cap.” And before he knew it he was walking through the iron door of Club Viper.
A fog machine was emitting thick knee high fog throughout the club as women and men danced in cages. Some even hung in the air like caged birds. Everyone drank like it was their last day on earth and there was no fuss if they went up in flames at the end of the night.
Music was blasting from every part of the club and from where Zero stood he could see Liv dancing with a random guy. Carter was at the bar flirting with the tattooed barista while S and Bea sat across from each other at the other side of the club chatting like they were at the freaking park.
The atmosphere was heated. Zero’s platinum blonde hair – usually styled so the longer strands to the front were up and out of his eyes – fell over his face stopping just to the bridge of his nose.
Zero brushed his hair out of his face sighing as strands still fell. The humidity was killing him and he wanted nothing more than to leave but couldn’t stomach that Liv would take it as him retreating – which he wasn’t!
In all honesty there was just too much going on his personal life for him to party like nothing was happening.
Zero pushed off of the stone pillar making his mind up that he should at least have a drink if not anything else. He walked down the few stairs that led to the dance floor having to cross it to get to the bar. The moment he stepped foot on the dance floor hands were already brushing and grabbing at him.
Hands were even running through his hair and brushing the skin on his legs through the ripped fabric of his jeans.
By the time he was out of the grinding sea of bodies sweat was running down his back from the effort of prying greedy hands off of his body.
He walked up to the bar taking a seat at one of the empty cushioned bar stools.
“So you finally decided to come to this side of the proverbial fence, huh?” Carter turned to face him with a smirk plastered on his otherwise gorgeous face. “Have a drink Zero.” Carter shoved a glass in his hand as he downed his own in one go.
Throwing back his head Zero gulped the liquor feeling the burn as it slid down his throat.
“I can’t tell the last time I was in a place like this…maybe four years ago when I graduated high school.” Zero chuckled at his lack of experience in this otherwise crude environment as his father would put it.
