If Zed had to pick one thing she was extremely good at it would be defying orders. Of course she would say that isn't the only thing she is good at but it's the one she's most proud of for a boat load of reasons. At the top of that list would be the clear surprise written on everyone’s face at how far she's willing to go to exceed their expectations.

“You spray painted a police car!?” The principle yelled at Zed who was currently seated before her custom made mahogany desk. Light was streaming into the room from the two glass windows that took up the majority of the walls.

Zed sighed not paying attention in the least but kept her eyes on the clock that was ticking away to lunch break. Just ten more minutes!

“Zed I swear one of these days you’re going to do something so bad nobody will be on your side,” Sarah Carpenter, the principal of Marianne Academy sighed running her hands through her thick graying hair. Her eyes wary, tired of the amount of trouble the student before her was causing.

Maybe… so have you given up faith in me Sarah,” Zed asked absentmindedly turning her gaze to her finger nails.

Sarah Carpenter laughed but it lacked any form of humor. ‘I won't give up faith in you Zed’ was one of the first things she had said to the brunette girl that sat before her desk two years ago when she had attempted to rob her house. Sarah said nothing.

Zed sat up in her chair brushing her hair out of her face with an almost bored expression. “Do you regret not having me locked up? I did tell you I was going to cause you a lot of trouble.”

There was a hint of a smirk dying to form on Zed's lips but she thought it was best not to provoke the woman too much or else she would go on and on about responsibilities and founders and what not.

“No, I don’t regret it Zed,” Sarah spread her palms on her desk pushing away papers that she had yet to get too. The upcoming graduation, the budget cut and PTA were things that needed her attention but Zed, she was somebody that caused great destruction if she really wanted to and that was something that needed her desperate attention too.

After all for all intents and purposes Sarah Carpenter was Zed's guardian in some sense even though Zed had declined all her help in the past and made it crystal clear she wouldn't want to live with her even if her life depended on it.

Zed shook her head, “you’re really intent on trying to confirm me into a good little student girl aren't you?”

It was unbelievable no matter how hard she tried to get this woman out of her life nothing worked. She knew though what would make her go running like she was caught on fire in an instant but couldn't say anything about it – not yet it was still too risky.

“You're forgetting I turn eighteen in two weeks that means I'll be legally an adult and you can't do anything then.” Zed reminded the woman as her emerald green eyes stared past the wall of books behind Sarah to the glass window that gave a perfect view of the cloudless blue sky.

Sarah sighed getting to her feet smoothing out her hand tailored blazer, brushed out her skirt and walked over to the window that looked over the academy grounds.

“You can do so much more with your life Zed just like you who have come from nothing the founders of this city or should I say this country also came from nothing. Struggling to find a place in this world where they belong – just like you – don't you see be like Zelina, like Stein… strive for change like they did an—”

Zed started to laugh, in all honesty she didn't mean to...okay she did but only because it was so funny that she couldn't hold it in anymore. She thought she'd heard all of Sarah's awe inspiring speeches that drove to try and change her in some way but this was just hilarious! “Me...You want me to be like those heroes? Striving for world peace? Pfft, that's a fruitless cause and downright stupid! Life, death, peace, war, darkness and light – you can't have one without the other they go hand in hand. The world needs change yes, they need to change those pansy ass good for nothing council members that are nothing but Anubis's lap dogs—”
