Kim Hae-Ju
" So she's a Kim? any relations? " I asked as I flipped through the pages I was given to review. "No sir, if all the Kims in Korea were related don't you think-"
"sheesh, Mister Jang...it was just sarcasm, you hang around father too often you aren't even his secretary. He's caused you to detach from your once friendly sense of humor." I responded as walked away from him in a rush to get a glance at my new advisor, testing by looks I was positive I would be able to estimate how long it would be before even she quit much like the others.
" Actually I am, your father's secretary... " I heard Mister Jang mumbled as he took a turn, leaving me to myself in the hallway. curious I walked after him to find him giving water to someone in the corner office.
tilting my head to not be caught by them, I watched the interaction as he bowed and she smiled, watching him off after a few shared words. My curiosity grew intrigued as I walked in, and sat in a chair that was faced towards her, an American, she wasn't sore to the eyes, though she was darker than most Americans I have seen. She stopped what she was doing and looked up at me with confusion outlining her face, causing me to scoff. " So where is the one, they have brought to take on the great Hae-Ju. " I said in English, waiting for her to stand in a furry and bow after the realization of who I was, or rather even chuckle at my comment.
Rather than do just that, she looked at me, lifted a brow before looking back down at her work and proceeded to continue what it was she was doing. I cleared my throat, causing her to look back up, she stood up.
Now she stands I thought to myself, only to find that she was handing me the water she received. " I haven't taken any sips, regardless seems you need it more than I do." She replied in Korean, before walking back to her desk, sitting down, and continuing what she was previously doing.
I couldn't help but scoff at her actions, I was so invested in trying not to shout at her that I almost forgot to ask, if she had known of a Kim Dalnim, until I looked at her desk, reading the name. thinking to myself and tilting my head side to side I couldn't help but make the face of confusion, that she too read on my face.
" Don't they ask for pictures on the resumes anymore? I am sure I sent one in." I heard her whisper in Korean again.
I had almost forgotten that it was in Korean she spoke to me, when she handed me the water earlier. studying her I couldn't help but shake my head. " Why all the trouble to speak Korean? " I mumbled to myself.
She looked up and turned around a picture frame that was on her desk, tapped at it for me to look at, then once more she returned to her work. So she has korean family it seemed.
" If you could please leave soon, sir I would appreciate it. " she said as she closed the binder she was writing in, then she picked up another, looked down and continued to do what she did before, ignore me.
" Agh, Now you have just become disrespectful. " I said gazing at her, as I waved my hand, pointing at her.
" Don't your parents teach you the importance of acknowledging your boss?" I asked her. She looked up as her eyes widened slightly before she bowed, then once more before she faced me, still with her glance slightly to the ground.
" Sorry, Mister I thought you were just one of the other workers, they have been coming in and out every day like I was some-"
I held up my hand and silenced her " I didn't ask for an explanation, this isn't a good start, now is it?" I asked her. She shook her head.
" No, it isn't." she responded.
" At least you know that much, now please go get me a cup of coffee. " I said before walking out of the room leaving her in annoyance, as I walked from the window she softly hit her head on the desk over and over, causing her hair to fall in a sea of waves all about the place.
