Lia could feel the potion working through her veins. The moment it was injected in her arm, she could feel this thing move fast. It wasn't something that was slow, it was rushing through her like it was in a hurry to get somewhere. It reached her heart in a matter of minutes, causing it to go into cardiac arrest.
"Kaito," Kazuki shouted. "What the hell is going on?"
Lia was beginning to hear voices again. She recognised Kazuki's deep voice with a warm tone to it but she could hear the coldness in it. Her heart beat out of control and she couldn't hear any more voices. She got plunged into a nightmare where she was being pulled down to the bottom of a deep ocean and couldn't see what was dragging her down. She couldn't breathe and couldn't fight this force. She looked above to the disappearing surface as it got further away. She reached up towards it but the darkness took over and she was left to give in to the force that had been pulling her down, eventually hitting the bottom. She laid there, waiting for death to take her but then some light was shown down on her and she could feel her legs being released from the force. She pushed down on the ocean floor, floated up to the top and then breathed in a breath of fresh air once she reached the surface. She floated above the water, closed her eyes and opened them to find she was no longer there. She was met with the sound of the heart monitor and the purple eyes of Kazuki.
"Kazuki," she forced out but her voice was very weak.
Kazuki lightly touched her face. He felt her temperature was still cold but he could tell that her warmth was trying to come back and that relieved him.
"You'll be alright now."
Lia looked around her room. She knew she was in the hospital with the sound of the heart monitor but she knew that she no longer in the same hospital. The bed was still a single bed but, it had very nice covers on it. It wasn't the traditional white that you'd see in a normal hospital. They were a darker brown and the bed had a lot of pillows on it. The floor was a darker hard wood, a large couch by a huge window that revealed the big city below it. It felt like she was staying at a luxury hotel in New York city.
Lia sat up and attempted to walk around when Kazuki wasn't looking. Her legs still felt stiff like death but she has been stuck in a bed for so long that she could no longer stand it. Kazuki was gazing out the window, looking so peaceful as if a long battle has just ended for him. Lia smiled at that but then noticed her body was craving water. Her throat was so dry that it was difficult to speak. She attempted her first step but stumbled and fell to the floor. Kazuki expression turned to shock as he quickly ran over to her.
"What were you thinking," his voice had a hint of anger in it. "You don't need to push yourself. I'm here if you need anything."
"I'm sorry," Lia quickly said. "It's just that I've been stuck in a bed for so long and I simply couldn't stand being there anymore."
Kazuki's expression softened up and his voice went back to his usual warm tone. "I guess that can get annoying." He helped Lia up who seemed to have difficulty standing. "You have just woken up and I'll try to help in any way I can."
Kazuki helped her back on the bed where she just sat on the edge of it.
"I would like a glass of water if you don't mind."
Kazuki gave her soft smile.
"I can do that for you."
Kazuki went into the other room which revealed that a kitchen and living area were also part of Lia's room. He came back with a glass of water for Lia and downed it.
"I'm sorry," Lia apologized. "I don't understand why I'm so thirsty." She looked down and began to blush.
"It's expected," Kazuki reassured her. "You've just come back to life so it's expected that your body will need the important essentials to survive."
