Spring
It's finally Springtime and Lia has been living on this planet for four months now. She has gotten used to Kazuki waking her up every morning by playing a sweet melody on the piano which seems to ring throughout the mansion.
"Kazuki," Lia said as she ran down the stairs. "Good morning!"
"Good morning. Almost ready to go?"
"Yes! But I'm so nervous, it's been so long since I've been in school."
Himeko made her way down the stairs. Both her and Kazuki were dressed in their purple hakama pants and white yukata with their katana's attached. Even spending 4 months here, Lia was still unsure of what it meant for them to be wearing that so often.
"Good morning," Himeko said in high spirits. "We should be going now. Me and Kazuki will show you the way to school this morning."
The three headed out into the city of Izayoi. What Lia expected was to just go to the school with the three of them but there happened to be a young looking boy waiting for the three of them outside the station.
"Who's this," Lia asked.
"A classmate of yours," Kazuki replied. "You both got into this school under my recommendation."
He waved over at the three of them excitedly and ran towards them.
"Master Komatsuzaki! I'm so glad I've found you, I thought I was lost or I came to the wrong place. This city is so big which is something I've never experienced before. But you're here and I'm not lost." He notices Lia's presence. "Miss Lia! It's nice to see you're alive."
"Wait what," Lia replied.
"I'm sorry, you don't know me but I was the Captain of the ship when Master Komatsuzaki brought you here. You were pretty lifeless," he joked.
"Lia," Kazuki cut in before Akito would say anything more that would make her feel uncomfortable. "This is Akito Hasegawa of District 20. But when you two both graduate, it is always polite to introduce yourselves first." Then Kazuki narrowed his eyes at the two of them.
"I'm sorry," Akito said and bowed before Lia. "I'm Hasegawa Akito. It's nice to meet you."
"I'm Lia but, I'm a little unsure of which last name to use after I've died and come back to life and all." She let out a nervous laugh.
"Belmonte," Kazuki said. The name you had before you were married."
Lia's eyes widened. How could he know what her last name was before she became Amato. She's only met Kazuki 4 months ago. But she decided to let it go and ask him later about it.
"Right," Lia nervously laughed again. "I'm Belmonte Lia. It's nice to meet you." Getting accustomed to the culture here, Lia bowed as she introduced herself to him.
They headed to the train station that was closest to the ocean, Umegawa station. Kazuki assisted Akito with buying a train ticket from the machine.
"Akito's from district 20," Himeko said to Lia. "That means he has absolutely no idea what a city is like. In the real world, Izayoi is probably the closest to Tokyo. It would be like bringing a child from Africa to Tokyo. So right now, he's probably very overwhelmed."
"What kind of place is District 20," Lia asked.
"Something out of the Edo period. I haven't been there a whole lot but they live like it's still the 1600s. But because of that, it's also very touristy with lots of Geisha, courtesans, tea houses, kabuki theatre troupes. Izayoi has a place like that but it's known as a red light district but it's nice to visit during new years eve. However, in district 20...it's a like a form of slavery."
Kazuki and Akito came up and they got went to the train platform. The way Akito's eyes were filled with amazement when he heard the train jingles to let everyone know the train was approaching. Kazuki explained from Umegawa station, they had four stops to Izayoi station where they would have to transfer trains and then from that line, they would reach Izoyoi protective warrior academy in another four stops. When they transferred trains and about to reach their school's station, everyone's phone on the train started vibrating to give an early emergeny alert warning. The train came to a complete stop before the earthquake would hit.
"What's going on," Akito asked.
Then the train announced that there would be an earthquake that would soon hit.
"It's an earthquake early warning," Kazuki replied. "First earthquake?"
Both Akito and Lia nodded their head in agreement.
"Really!" Himeko replied surprised. "Does district 20 not get earthquakes."
"Not where I live."
Then the train started to shake and Lia's heart became to beat slightly faster. The train rocked back and forth sideways and it made her nervous that the train would flip over but, the shaking stopped within a minute and everything was fine.
"It was only a little one," Kazuki said. "Only a little shaking. Nothing too serious."
Everyone got an alert saying that it was only a magnitude 4.1 earthquake. The trains were running within a matter of minutes and they finally reached the Izayoi protective warrior station. They walked to the campus where the cherry blossom trees where in full bloom which took both Akito and Lia in amazement.
"Wow," Lia said. "I've never seen a school like this before. But I've also never stepped foot onto a University campus back home."
"Everything's so big," Akito added. "Is this really something that people can just get used to here."
This would be the place that both Akito and Lia would spend there next four years, training with the sword and learning magic abilities that only aliens possessed here but even Lia found herself to possess these abilities. Healing and combat. Something a simple human like her learned to do. Akito's power also grew stronger as the years went on. They did they're very best, right up to graduation. But after graduation was when they found out that the true battle would begin.
