How Can I Love My Enemy?

Chapter 8

I woke up to people yelling downstairs. Surprisingly, my door had been fixed and put back on its hinges. I got off my bed and walked towards the stairs.

When I got to the top of the stairs I could hear Alpha yelling at someone. He sounded really mad.

Don't go down there. Jane warned me.

I didn't listen to her and started down stairs. When I reached the bottom, I smelt the familiar smell of the rainforest. I tried to walk past Nick and Alpha without them knowing I was there. I was almost out of the living room when Alpha called me over. I obediently walled over and stood in front of him next to Nick.

"Alex, what happened last night?"

"I was in the library reading when Nick and some other kids came down and then went back to my room." I looked down because I was scared, Alpha was easily a foot taller than me.

"What did you do after you want to your room?"

"I changed and went for a run."

"And how long were you gone on this 'run'?"

"Over five hours."

"Where did you go on this run?"

"To one of the meadows on our land."

"Why weren't you at the pack house in your room?"

"I didn't want to be around the whores that were here."

"Do you know why there were whores here?"

"Nick decided to throw a party without anyones permission."

Shut up! Nick yelled at me, while mindlinking.

Shut up yourself! You're the one who threw the party, idiot! I yelled back.

"Nick you're grounded."

"What?"

"Ha ha!"

"Not so fast Alex, you're grounded too."

"That is not fair. Why should I be grounded?"

"Because you let him have the party."

"Fine."

"You both will be locked in the basement for a week. Food will be brought down to you and you will have water down there with you."

We groaned as we walked to the stairs and down into the basement. When we reached the bottom of the stairs, Alpha was behind us with our breakfast. He handed it to us and walked back upstairs to lock the door. When I heard the door lock, I walked into the library.

"Hey bitch, you're not allowed in there."

"Hey dickwad, yes I am. I have permission, just like you."

I walked into the library, aware that he was following me. I grabbed one of my favorite books, The Shining by Stephen King. I sat down in one if the chairs and started to read.

I didn't get to far because Nick was distracting me by looking through the books that I recently put back on the shelves.

"What are you doing?" I asked confused.

"Looking at the books that look like they have been read recently."

"Why?"

"I don't know."

I stopped talking and tried to go back to my book but I couldn't. He kept running his fingers over the books I pulled out about mating. He picked one up and sat in one of the other chairs. I tried to clam myself down but I couldn't because of how strong his smell was. It was heavenly, I didn't know how anyone could consecrate with him anywhere near them.

I looked over at him. Huge mistake. He looked at me and got up. He started to walk towards me and then stood in front of me. I looked up at him as he stood over me smiling.

"Looking for our mate, are we?"
