"No, no, no!" Godric complained. "All wrong! You- no you- go over there. You! You're supposed to hit the bludger! Not lightly tap it! And you! The Hufflepuff! The Quaffle is supposed to go through the hoop! AGAIN!" Godric yelled. He grabbed a red ball and threw it into the sky.
"You're kind of harsh don't you think?" Rowena came walking down to the makeshift Quidditch field to watch the tryouts for the teams. The idea of Quidditch seemed absolutely mental to everyone but Godric. He invited anyone who wanted to join but then quickly kicked them off the team once he saw they didn't know how to fly.
"You're a disappointment to the wizarding world!" Godric exclaimed at a Slytherin who almost fell off his broom. "No, Rowena. I am simply encouraging them." Rowena side eyed Godric and raised an eyebrow.
"It's freezing out, why are you having tryouts so much later in the term?" She asked as her thick cloak did not keep her warm.
"It would be too hot".
"Too hot?"
Rowena scoffed. "I'm going back to the castle, care to join? Your students don't look too excited. I think Mr. Kedts lesson was more intriguing." Godric looked up at the sky and saw nasty scowls on all of the kids faces.
"Maybe it's the 2nd years. They probably don't want to- Hey where are you going?". Rowena was already halfway up the hill back to Hogwarts.
"Alright! Everyone down!" Godric yelled."Good Heavens it looks like you were sent back here from Hell. What happened?" Helga asked Salazar who was trekking in the Great Hall covered in mud. She was sitting at the professors table and stopped what she was doing. He wiped mud from his face and stopped in front of the table.
"I'm going to annihilate the student that-"
"Well first before you do that I'd like to know what happened?" Helga asked again. Salazar sighed as he recalled the events. "I was taking a leisurely walk in the courtyard and the mud puddles from that dreadful rain storm were still there. I walked past it and the mud just rose itself up from the puddle and splashed on me. Those imbeciles enchanted it!" He was fuming at the end of the story but Helga was attempting not to laugh. "Just stay right there" She said. Helga got up and took her wand out. She pointed it at Salazar. Just as she was about to blast him with a jet of water, Rowena had come stomping in the Great Hall.
"I hate Quidditch!" She yelled. "What happened to you?"
Salazar sighed and rolled his eyes, signaling that Helga should explain the story. "First, love, we all loathe Quidditch. It makes no sense whatsoever. Second, a group of students enchanted a mud puddle to attack Salazar. How immature!"
Rowena stifled a laugh but Godric had came sprinting in, heaving over.
"Monster- basement-"
"Woah Godric, slow down what's wrong?"
The mood had quickly turned from lighthearted to concern in a swift sentence.
"There's a monster in the basements of Hogwarts!" He yelled, finally catching his breath. Panic and alarm had kicked into everyone's gears and they all were slapped by reality.
"I am not knocking on Deaths door today!" Helga yelled. "Get the students locked in their Common rooms!" She ignored the muddy Salazar next to her and sprinted off to find each and every student roaming the corridors of Hogwarts.
"What in the bloody hell do you mean monster?!" Salazar scolded. Although, he was lying straight through gritted teeth. He had known what was happening. "No time for arguing!" Rowena snapped. "I am going to the basements myself! Godric, handle the students with Helga and make sure they're safe. Salazar you're coming with me!" Her panic mode had started turning gears and she took lead, directing and locking down Hogwarts. Godric waved his wand and the doors scattered along the castle closed and locked. The giant main door to Hogwarts had a thick metal gate that slid down, along with a steel wall. Nothing was coming in or out of Hogwarts anytime soon.
"Salazar, Now!" Rowena was already running out into the drafty corridors and down to the basements. He was malcontent and horribly dreading letting Rowena run down to the basements.
"SALAZAR SLYTHERIN!" She yelled. "I AM NOT GOING TO BE KILLED. AGAIN!"
He breathed with remorse and took off, following her. Godric scattered off into the castle too, following Helgas footsteps. In the North tower, Helga was frantically shoving every last Ravenclaw student into their Common rooms. Shouts of anger and moans emerged from all of them.
"What's happening?!" One student called out.
"Why aren't you letting us leave?" Another student groaned. As soon as all of the Ravenclaws were forcefully pushed into, she nervously had told them;
"You are all being put in here for your safety! It's professors business and I will enchant this door so nobody leaves. Good day, lovely students!"
She awkwardly smiled, shut the door, muttered and incantation and the door sealed itself tightly shut. Helga scurried down the stairs and up the stairs, spiraling every which way to make sure the students were safe. She was on the other side of the tall stair case tower when she saw Godric, pushing in the last of the Gryffindors in their Common room.
"Godric!" She was relieved to see him. He spun around and his entire body relaxed, easing him into a less, panic driven mode.
"Helga! The Slytherins are safe in their Common room, I didn't check the Hufflepuffs! Go!" He said. The news had punched Helga in her stomach.
Not my students. She thought.
Helga skidded down the steps and took every twist and turn. Her Common room was in the basements near the kitchens. Near the alleged monster that was roaming Hogwarts. She was halfway to the Hufflepuff Common Room when a beastly shriek shook the castle.Down past the Slytherin Common room, kitchens and Hufflepuff Common room, Salazar and Rowena were deep into the Hogwarts basements. Where it was consistently drafty and cold and no student or professor dared to go. They had entered a long hallway, beneath the lake and rather far from Hogwarts.
"How did Godric know their was a beast down here?" Rowena whispered as they slowly walked to the end of the hall where an odd circular door sat. Salazar inhaled. "The Quidditch supply trunks are down here."
"In the basements?"
"Because nobody wanted Quidditch anywhere, they basically banned it to the basements".
Rowena stopped in her tracks, almost scaring Salazar.
"What is it-"
"Shhh"
A grizzly roar combined with a shriek had erupted from the circular door down the hall.
"What in the bloody hell is down here?" Rowena whispered, shaking a bit.
"A Basilik" He boldly stated. Rowena whipped her head to look at him with fury.
"How do you know that?" She cooly asked, even though rage was boiling inside her.
"Because I put it there."
