"Salazar let the student go" Helga said, defensive. The three of them weren't nearly as frightened as Lithos, who seemed to be shaking .
"Let him go" Godric said without an ounce of anger. Salazars eyes darted between the three and poked his wand harder into Lithos. Lithos winced at the pain.
"I SAID LET HIM GO" Godric yelled. He lunged at Salazar, forcing him to let go of Lithos and be tackled once more by Godric.
Godric pinned Salazar down and stuck his wand in Salazars neck. Rowena had retrieved the students and held him, promising him he would never be hurt by a professor again.
"Get off!" Helga yelled at the two. She yanked Godric by the shirt and heaved him backwards. Helga then reached a reluctant hand out to Salazar, but he bitterly refused and got up on his own. There was a few minutes of tense silence before Lithos had spoke up.
"Please can I just go-"
"Go" Helga gently said. The second she dismissed him, he mustered up all his energy and ran as fast as he could to Algar and his dormitory.
"Where have you been?" Helga calmly asked, despite the sheer hatred between the Four. Salazar didn't answer. Helga asked again. But he didn't reply.
"Let's take a walk" Godric proposed through gritted teeth. He stepped over to Salazar and patted him rather hard on the shoulder.
"Absolutely not. Neither of you are going anywhere. We're settling this right here and right now." Rowena stated. She turned her focus directly to Salazar. "Now what on this green earth have you been doing, Salazar?" She asked him. He breathed in slowly, signaling a long over due explanation.
"Pipes" He said simply. Rowena raised an eyebrow.
"Pardon?" Helga asked.
"I've been putting in long tunnels in the walls of Hogwarts for the Basilisk to go through" He said, but quickly put hands up in surrender. "Because none of you think right. How can you accept filthy muggle borns here?" He snarled. Helga shot him a repulsive look.
"If you haven't known, I'm muggle-born. It's a chance for wizards and witches" Helga pleaded.
"I can't believe you!" Rowena yelled. "What the hell has gotten into you! I can remember you were a scared kid trying to get away from his awful parents and you throw away everything we did!" Rowena yelled, almost ending in a scream. She was so furious, she turned, and walked away. Rowena walked away as if there wasn't a worry in the world, ignoring everything.
"Rowena!" Godric called after her, but she drowned him out. He furiously turned back to Salazar, wanting for him to explain more. "What's your plan, Slytherin? To take us down from the inside?" Godric asked with hate.
"Shut it!" Salazar snapped. "We all knew this was coming! From the moment I pointed that wand in your neck on that street we knew we were mortal enemies and you can't accept it! Oh we both know it was practically alleviating to try and kill each other."
Salazars true colors weren't pretty. The truth came out and it was like they lost a family member. None of them could get themselves to believe Salazar was really like this.
"So you were abandoning your students for your own beast. I get it now. You're mental. Don't speak to me." Godric hissed. He swiveled and left.
It was Helga and Salazar left, but Helga could still somehow see the good in him. She was determined to get the rest of the nasty truth out of him in the cold basements. She breathed in softly before stepping closer to him.
"There is a beast in this castle. In this castle. The castle that Rowena found for us. And you've put everyone in peril. I refuse to accept the fact you've turned so bitter" She said with a shaky voice.
"I was going to leave the Basilisk here before I left." Salazar admitted. Helga tilted her head.
"Before you left? As in you were just going to leave it here for us? For it to kill us?" She asked.
"To rid all of those who are unworthy of magic" Salazar confessed. Helga had become not angry, but disappointed and upset at her best friend. She felt thick tears building in her eyes.
"James was right" She whispered. "You really are a villain". Helga exhaled sharply and left him behind.Later that night, Godric hadn't slept a wink. He stood at his desk, staring at the blank stacks of parchments. He laid on his back, staring at the ceiling. He walked and paced in circles to accept that he wasn't sleeping tonight. A small knock on his door startled him. Who could be up at this hour? He walked carefully over and opened the door, to reveal Helga was standing uneasy in front of him in her night dress.
"Can't sleep" She whispered.
"Me either" he laughed softly. Godric gestured for her to come in. She walked directly over to his teachers desk and examined students work.
"Wingardium Leviosa?" She laughed. "You should be teaching these kids the Unforgivable Curses..." Helga trailed off and pursed her lips, realizing she shouldn't have said anything. Godric closed his eyes and leaned against his door. Helga looked up and noticed, furrowing her brow.
"Are you alright?" She asked. Godric opened his eyes and slid down to the floor. He ran a hand through his rather untidy black hair and smiled to himself. Helga got up and walked to him, sitting down on the floor with Godric.
"He told me he was originally going to put the Basilisk there before he left to 'rid Hogwarts all of those who are unworthy of magic' and that means..."
"Muggle borns" Godric finished. "I just remembered something" He said, like a lightbulb had went off. Godric got up and walked to his desk, rummaging through parchments and ink bottles before pulling out Salazars journal.
"No... no no no. Rowena told us not to. Oh no you've already read it, haven't you?" Helga pleaded. Godric had a mischievous look plastered across his face. He went back down and sat across from Helga on the floor. "Let's read it" He offered. Helga threw her head back and groaned.
"No..." She said, looking at him. "No" She said once more, refusing to give in, but his sly smirk got to her.
"Alright...." she said.
"Okay" Godric stated. "Here goes nothing...."
