Chapter 5 : Back To Work

I step into the shower for the first time in months I turn the tap to the left to my surprise my skin gets burned by the hot water. This place has everything everyone needs hot showers, food, water and even good medical care. I have a quick shower and jump out I grab my towel and wrap it around me, I walk out of the bathroom and go into my bedroom and sit on my double bed I go to my wardrobe to realise that I have no clothes.

There's a knock on the door so I open it up and there stand a woman carrying clothes, food and water, she tells me it's from Alex so I take it and say thanks she walks away and I close the door I go back into my bedroom to get dressed the woman gave me a few outfits but I just put on the black shirt and denim shorts with white trainers which come with all the stuff.

I hear another knock on the door, I open the door and Alex comes in.

"So I see you've made yourself at home"

I look at him oddly, he's a very handsome man, tall and good-looking. He hands me my weapons my machete, AR15 and the Glock 19 he gives me all the clips and magazines he also gives me a whetstone to sharpen my machete on.

"Just to let you know there's a no weapons policy outside of your house you can only take the weapons out in case of an emergency"

I tell him that I understand and that I won't, but I will. I place all my weapons inside the house and leave the house with Alex I lock my door and walk with Alex we walk around the walls of the courtyard we can't see the biters, but we can hear them as we're walking by the giant steel walls he grabs my hand and slips a small knife into it.

"Just in case, " he whispers in my ear sending a chill down my spine. I stare at him and thank him.

"Oh Lola If you don't mind, I have a job for you, it's not the best, but you can work your way up "

He leads me into the warehouse and into another giant room filled with weapons and explosives.

"Your job is to take care of all the weapons in the armoury and if any weapons get taken by my men write it down and make sure it gets returned, also you will have to keep an inventory on every single gun every day".

I agree to my job and he gives me a notepad and pen to keep track of the weapons, he leaves the armoury and shuts the door behind him. I finish writing the inventory and a man walks in and asks me for a pistol because he's going on a run. I hand him a Mk23 and 5 clips he takes the gun and the ammo and leaves. After he leaves Alex walks in.

"I see you're doing a good job"

I thank him and he tells me I can leave because it's late. I look at the clock in the armoury to see the time 10 pm, I didn't realise it was this late I leave the armoury.

Alex grabs my back and says"Tomorrow 5 pm my place for dinner" I agree and tell him to meet me at "Pipers Restaurant" so he can take me to his house from there.

I walk to my house and enter, I pick up my Glock and start to take it apart so I can clean it. I finish cleaning my guns and I go to bed, I lay in bed and think about what this place could become I close my eyes and go to sleep...

I go into my office and think about Lola, she makes me happy she's such a friendly woman. I only wanted to become friends with Lola, but I think I'm starting to... Fall In Love.

Will Alex tell Lola about how he feels about her?

What will happen at dinner?
