Chapter 14: The Hunt

I wake up to the sunlight beaming through the curtains, blinding me. I make my way to my window to see Junior and Mike packing into the cars. All the children said they wanted to come to Whitefield because they don't think they can protect themselves at the farm.

Bang Bang Bang

My bedroom door gets knocked on and I open it up to see Josh standing there. He looks sad, but I know why he lost his parents the other day, but he seemed more upset now than he did then.

"Hey, Lola how are you?" He says trembling.

"What's wrong Josh?" I say as I grab his hands.

"I want to get some things out of my parents' room, but I just get too upset when I'm about to go in, could you go in for me?"

"Of course I will what do you want out of there?"

"Just pictures that's all," He says slightly cheering up.

I walk down the hall towards Grace and Harry's room and I come up to the door, I twist the door handle and open the door. I look around at the giant bed and the towering wardrobes. I walk over to a wardrobe and I open it up it's full of women's clothes and shoes. I stretch my arm to that I can reach the top shelf of the wardrobe as my hand reaches the top shelf I feel a few books. I grab one of the books and pull it off the shelf, but a bunch of other things fall down with it.

Bang

A ton of shoes and books for down crashing against my head. Something heavy comes flying down and hits my forehead, making it bleed. I stare into the mirror attached to the wardrobe door and see a big cut with a bunch of bruising around it. I stop looking in the mirror and proceed to look for a picture book I search all the books on the floor and come across three books. Each book has a name on it full of pictures of the person. I carry the books outside of the room and give them to Josh.

"Thank you so much for getting them, what did you do to your head," He says as he looks through the pictures.

"The book fell and something hit me, but I'm fine," I say as more blood drips onto the carpet.

I walk downstairs and walk into the medical area I grab a bandage and walk into the bathroom. I grab one of the towels on the wall and wipe my cut with the towel. I put my head under the sink to wash away any dry blood. I grab the bandage and wrap it around my head, stopping the bleeding.

I leave the house and see everyone standing by the cars waiting for me. I walk up to Abbie and she wraps her arms around me.

"Thank you for saving my life," She says as she gets into one of the cars.

"I didn't save your life Grace did," I say also getting into the same car as her.

I get into the driver's seat and Abbie is sitting next to me in the passenger seat. The two back doors open, Junior gets into the back with Violet. I start up the car and I proceed to drive down the dirt path, making sure Josh and Mike are following us. We hit the main road and I continue driving towards Whitefield until I come to a sudden stop I look behind me to see that Josh and Mike weren't there at all it's like they've just disappeared.

"What's wrong Lola?" Violet says, confused.

"Your brothers have disappeared," I say Turning the car around.
