Chapter 17: The Way Home

**Lola's POV**

We finally reach the bottom floor and Abbie's still down here with Violet. I look down at the human smoothie on the floor and I laugh I don't know but I just laugh. We all make our way towards a car leaving what's just happened on the 16th floor. I think about Alex and Piper at home and I start to panic, I jump into the car and start it. Everybody gets in and I speed off trying to get back home as fast as I can. I don't know what's happening, but I feel like something isn't right with them at home. I suddenly calm down when Abbie wraps her arms around me making sure I was ok.

We're only about 15 minutes away from Whitefield I guess you could say this trip was worthless. I look around making sure there are no biters near us I see a few but they're far away. As I carry on speeding I see what seems to be a spike in the road. It's too close I try to move away, but it's too late. Pop. The tire pops and the car spins out of control, causing the car to flip off the road. Bang.

**Emily's POV**

I stare at what seems to be a building quite close to Whitefield it's a small motel on route 56.

"I think we should stay here," I say, realising that it's filled with dead bodies and biters.

"Yep, not a good idea" Alexia says, taking out a biter.

We carry on walking down the road and come across a gas station. Inside the gas station, there's two bodies, both with bullets in their heads it looks like an execution. Alivia walks up to me and hands me a map.

"It's a spare thought you could use it" She says as she carries on searching the shelves.

"Thank You"

**Lola's POV**

I pull myself out of the car cutting my arm as I drag myself through the window. I watch as Abbie and Violet get out and none of them have serious injuries. I stare through the window and see Junior unconscious.

"Junior get up now!!" I shout trying to wake him up.

As I breathe in I smell smoke, I look straight towards the engine and see it smoking.

"Junior get up now!!!" Abbie shouts.

Mike and Josh both get out of the car leaving Junior.

"Mike go and get him" Violet says as Mike looks at her.

"Ok, I'll get him"

We watch as Mike climbs through a window and starts shaking Junior. He's not waking up. I hear a crackle and the car goes up in flames. Boom. I stare in shock as the car fills with fire, killing Mike and Junior. My heart sinks and I fall to the floor I've known Junior since I moved to Whitefield and he was engaged to Piper what's she going to think.

**Emily's POV**

I watch as smoke rises from a distance and it's not that far away. I question myself if we should go and see what has happened, but I don't think we should it's dangerous. Alexia and Alivia walk up to me and stare at the smoke.

"It's cool, isn't it" Alexia says

"What is?" Alivia says, turning and facing Alexia
