Above is the pic of Asher and Jade.
Eva's POV
I woke up feeling cold. I rubbed my eyes sleepily and looked around. The covers were off me and the bed felt cold. I looked next to me, but, the bed was empty. Xavier's side was made. I extended my arm to check if he was here, but it seemed he didn't sleep here last night. I sighed as I sat on the edge of the bed, my mood already gloomy.
I dragged my feet towards the bathroom and finished my morning routine. Putting my clothes on, I tried to tame my hair. I applied simple liner and lip gloss. Twenty minutes later, I was ready for school. Picking my school bag up, I closed the bedroom door and headed towards the kitchen.
I entered the kitchen and saw Xavier sitting on a stool near the counter with his phone in his hand.
"Good morning," I greeted him cheerfully.
"Morning," he replied dryly without looking up.
It felt as if the smile was slapped off my face. I frowned at his unusual behavior. I placed my bag on the counter top and sat next to him. I turned towards him.
"Are you okay? You didn't sleep in our room," I asked him, feeling confused by his sudden change of behavior.
"I was busy," came his short reply as he tried to call someone on his phone.
My eyebrows shot up. He was acting weird... And distant. I kept staring at him, trying to comprehend what was wrong with him. I sighed and got up. Getting a glass out of the cupboard, I poured myself some orange juice and gulped it down in one go. One of my bad habits; I eat like an elephant whenever I feel tense.
Picking my school bag up, I turned towards him.
"Um... Can you drop me off at school?"
He looked up, but had a faraway look on his face as if mind-linking someone.
"Asher will take you to school. He is waiting for you at the front door," he said moments later, still not meeting my eyes.
He got up and left the kitchen. I was hoping he'd at least say goodbye or something. He didn't even look up once while I was talking to him. It was frustrating. Ugh! I walked towards the elevator, stomping my feet in frustration. Fine. If he wants to ignore me then I'll ignore him too.
I opened the front door and saw Asher leaning on the wall, waiting for me. He straightened up as he saw me.
"Hello, Luna," he greeted me.
"Hey, please don't call me Luna. You know my name," he nodded as he walked towards his car, motioning me to follow him.
I walked towards his car and sat in the passenger seat. He entered the car and put his seat belt on. We sat in silence as he drove us towards the school. I looked out of the window, but I kept on thinking about Xavier and his strange behavior. Does he not want me as his mate? Is it because of our age difference? Ugh! Stop it. Just don't think about him. If you're going to ignore, you can't think about him.
We reached the school and Asher parked the car. Turning the engine off, he turned towards me.
"Hey, I am sorry for making fun of you the other day," he said feeling sorry.
"It's fine. Forgiven and forgotten," I said, giving him a smile.
I don't want to hold a grudge on him. I already have many issues of my own. And, my frustrating and hot Alpha mate is one of them. Ugh! Don't think about him.
I got out of the car and thanked him for giving me a ride.
"It's no problem. If you need a ride back, I'll drop you off."
