A Helping Hand

3gun saw Billy

Lookin' forlorn

A hole in his sleeve

Where his heart

had been worn

Still puzzled and lost

Over all things, Rue

Throwin' up his hands

Knowin' not what to do

He took him aside

And gave him a drink

Told him to focus

On how he should think

Then he told him

He thought he knew

What was wrong

And to prove it

To Billy he sang

This song

When the song ended

Billy nodded his head

This business with Rue

Needed to be put to-

Needed to be sorted out

He squared his shoulders

And hollered for Rue

The crowd all went silent

Didn't know what to do

He called her again

Said, I've got

Somethin' to say

Somewhere in the crowd

They heard, Hip Hooray!

Rue appeared on the street

He blinked at the vision

Then moving toward her

He knew it was crunch time . . .

For a decision
