Arabella.

"Hi sweetie," my mother says.

"What, how, mom," I stumble out.

"Arabella," my mother says from besides me, "I've missed you."

"Mommy," I choke, "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry I didn't do anything. I don't know what I was thinking,Lucas did it so fast. I was so in shock, I'm so so sorry mommy."

"Arabella, stop. You don't have anything to be sorry for. It was my fault. Lucas made his own decision. He has to live with those decisions for the rest of his life. He lashes out because he's unsure of what he's become. Lucas doesn't know any better."

"Mommy, tell me what to do," I cry, "Lucas, he's her and I don't know what to do."

"Arabella Louise, your father and I, we always taught you to be strong, and so has your other family. Your brother, he needs help, and I know you'll find a way to help him. Show him you love him, it'll make a difference," my mother says touching my cheek.

"I'm not strong; today was the first time I've used my powers since you & Daddy died," I admit shamefully. "And Lucas has done awful, unspeakable things to me in the past three years, why should I love him."

"He is also your brother sweetheart, you're twin intact, and despite what you think, he's defended you on more than one occasion from afar," she coos, "you always see the best in people, I know you'll see it in him too. Remember your father and I are always here with you, and we're proud of you."

"I love you mommy," I whisper.

"I love you too dear, but you must wake up now," she says fading before my eyes.

"Please don't leave me again mommy," I plead.

"Wake up," my says hardly visible now, "open your eyes baby."

I open my eyes & realize on laying on my side in the bed of my truck. Was that all a dream? I rub my eyes and look down at the item clutched in my hand. It's the picture frame. I stare intensely at my mother's face, replaying my dream in my head.

My brother needs love? He was always everyone's favorite. Even though we were twins, everyone showed up to our birthday parties for him, not me. He got everything, invites to parties, dates, a brand new car. Lucas was the one they kept, I was discarded at birth, pawned off to another family, not wanted.

What does she mean he's protected me from afar? Everytime I see him, he tries to run everything.

I shake my head to clear it from my thoughts and slowly slide off the tailgate. I throw the picture frame back in the small bag, forgetting the glass is broken. As the frame flies from my hand, a piece of broken glass nicks my finger. I watch for a second as blood begins to trickle out before the skin heals itself.

I let out a long over due sigh as I throw my bag over my shoulder, closing the tailgate. Being too lazy and exhausted, I throw my bag in the passenger seat rather than placing it back into the back seat. I ease into the drivers seat and wrap my fingers around the steering wheel. I take on a deep breathe as I crank the key in the ignition and the engine turns over.

Once I'm out of the field, I make my way down back road after back road. Music plays in the back ground, but I don't really notice until I hear the heavenly voice of Nick Jonas come through the speakers. The song Unhinged plays, and I sing a long with every word.

"Told your mama and your brother you won't compromise
Say my endless indecision keeps you up at night
Talk about another man that you've been talkin' to
Just to see if I'll get mad and I'll fight for you
But that's not me
