Lucas.
"What the hell happened to her," Sadie speaks up as we all help clean the Archer's kitchen.
"When Arabella gets really stressed, she gets these really bad stomach pains and forces herself to throw up," I say putting the last of the dishes into the dishwasher.
"What could possibly be stressing her out," Adeline shouts from the dining room.
"SAT's, college, graduation, prom, there's a lot," Brett says, carrying the cloth napkins to the laundry room.
"Arabella has a 4.5 GPA, she can practically get into any college she wants to," Sadie says putting leftovers from breakfast in the fridge.
"Well you never fully understand what someone else is going through until you walk a mile in their shoes," I say closing the dishwasher and hitting the wash button.
"Arabella is someone I will never understand," Adeline says clapping her hands together.
"So what do you guys want to do," Brett asks looking around to everyone.
"I've got to get home," Adeline says with a pout, "but tell Arabella to take it easy and to call me when she feels better."
Adeline gives a to Sadie before waving to Brett and I as she let's herself out.
"Then there were three," Brett says jokingly.
"Jadon should be here any minute, so I'm going to go get ready," Sadie says exiting the kitchen.
"So you want to watch T.V, go swimming, or workout downstairs," Brett asks looking to me.
"Let's go workout," I respond, "I need to let off some steam."
"That was easy,"Brett laughs. "Do you have clothes here? Because I don't,"
"All I've got are these pajamas and the clothes I wore yesterday," I admit, pulling at the pockets of my flannel plaid bottoms.
"Well, we have three options," Brett says holding up his index finger. "One: we can go see if Marco has anything we can borrow and risk him dismembering us."
"No thanks," I laugh.
"Option two," he says lifting a second finger, "we can see if Mateo has anything we can wear, but you might take a beating."
"What's option three," I ask.
Brett holds up a third finger and says, "We can just go buy some stuff."
"I'm down for option three," I say pushing myself from the counter I was leaning against. "Your car or mine?"
"Yours, we took mine yesterday," Brett says walking over to the muck room, where the Archer's keep all their shoes.
"Okay, sounds like a plan," I call from the stairs. "Let me grab my keys."
I enter Arabella's room without knocking, looking at my phone. I look up and spot my keys on the table near the couch in her room. I quickly grab my keys, looking down at my phone once more. I'm not paying attention to where I'm going when I run into something wet. I fall to the ground like a sack of potatoes and the wet object falls on top of me. I feel an electrical pulse run through me and I look up to see Sadie's wet body on mine.
We take a moment to register what is happening, then we both jump back to opposite sides of the room.
"What the hell are you doing in here," Sadie whisper yells to me, not wanting to wake Arabella.
"Getting my keys, what the hell are you doing in here naked," I whisper yell back, covering my eyes.
"I took a quick shower to get ready for Jadon! Why didn't you knock," she retorts.
"This is twin's room so I don't need to knock, especially when she's sleeping," I reply.
"You can uncover your face now. I'm decent," Sadie whispers. I look through my fingers to check before fully uncovering my face.
"I'm leaving, have fun with Jason," I say walking towards Arabella's sleeping body.
"Jadon," Sadie corrects me.
"Whatever," I say as I crouch and shake Arabella's shoulder. "Hey, Arabella wake up." Arabella groans twice before I shake her again.
"What," she asks groggily rolling away from me.
"Brett and I are going to the store, I'll be right back," I say shaking her one last time, "do you want anything?"
She rolls over at the mention of me buying her something and weakly asks, "Could you get me some green tea tea bags?"
"Yeah, I'll get you some," I agree before brushing her hair back on her and kissing her forehead. I stand and cross the room, gently closing the door behind me.
"Dude, what took so long," Brett asks the moment I reach the bottom of the stairs.
"Sadie fell on top of me man," I say, trying to shake the feeling away. Brett hits my chest, smiling at me; I shake my head at his immaturity.
"Where's your car," Brett ask as we reach the end of the Archer's property.
"I parked down the street so the Archer's wouldn't see my car," I shamefully admit.
Brett doesn't say anything as we reach my car. We slide into the seats and quickly make or way into town. We walk into American Eagle and begin to look through the clothes.
"I don't sew how girls do this for fun," I say, struggling to find clothes that will fit me.
"Me neither," Brett says holding up a shirt, "I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy it."
"Same," I say grabbing the largest shirt on the rack before heading to the check out.
"Hi, did you find everything okay," the clerk says to us in a practiced voice.
"Yes ma'am," I respond pulling my wallet from my back pocket.
"Great, you're total today is $63.35," she says without looking up from the register. I hand her my card and she looks up at me. "You?"
"Me," I say rubbing the back of my neck.
"You," she repeats sliding my card.
"Me," I repeat, bowing my head before taking the bag and my card and exiting the store as quick as possible.
Brett catches up to me, nearly out of breath. "Lucas wait up," he pants, "what was all that about with the checkout girl?"
"Funny story actually," I say, making my way to the closest tea shop to get Arabella's tea, "I thought she was, you know, the one, and we may have almost had a kid together before I took off."
"What," Brett screams in the middle of the mall.
"Keep your voice down man," I say through gritted teeth.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he says quietly as we walk into the tea shop, "but what happened to the kid?"
I sallow a thick gulp as I grab Arabella's tea , "She, um, got rid of it." Brett stands still for a minute as I purchase the tea.
"That's rough buddy," is all he says.
"Yeah, she told me the news so I bailed. I don't know what she's doing here," I sigh walking out of the mall.
"At least you aren't stick with the wrong person," Brett says optimistically.
"Yeah, but my child ceases to exist," I mutter under my breath. "So how did you know Arabella was yours?" A smile ghosts itself over Brett's face as the mention of Arabella's name.
"I don't know," he shrugs, "we touched and it was like electricity was flowing from where we were connected."
At that moment, my eyes shoot wide open as reality hits me like a train. Could Sadie be my soul mate?
