Sadie.
Lucas's normal green eyes were clouded behind the hurt that was present. He turns his back to me. I don't know why I suddenly feel guilty, but I try to shake it from my body as I look back to Jadon. Jadon's brown eyes bore holes into my brown ones.
"I'm sorry if that was too forward," he apologizes.
"It's okay," I laugh.
We stand inches apart. Jadon glances to my lips again & I do the only thing I can think of.
I splash him.
"What was that for," Jadon exclaims.
"I don't know," I say as I shrug my shoulders.
Jadon hits the water with his hand causing the water to hit me in the face. I laugh as I continue to splash at him repeatedly. We eventually calm our attacks and we gravitate towards each other once more. Jadon looks deeply into my eyes once more. I can't figure out what is going on behind his brown eyes, but I can tell it won't be good.
Jadon inhales before parting his lips to speak, "You know I'm still on tour right?"
"Yeah, I do," I sigh. We stand in awkward silence for a moment before Brett comes to the edge of the pool.
"And you know that because I'm still on tour, I can't make any commitment," he sighs.
"Just don't forget," I smirk moving towards him, "that mysteries are always more fun than free stuff."
"I would hate to be that person," Brett interrupts, "but Jadon, I'm going to have to kindly ask you to leave. Arabella's is not in good shape, and she asked for Sadie to help her."
"I'm sorry," Jadon says understanding, "I hope she feels better."
Jadon grabs my hand as he leads me out of the pool. We walk together into the basement and let of sight of Brett. As soon the door clicks closed behind me, Jadon has me up against it.
"Let's finish," he says as he holds my face in his hands and he crashes his lips to mine.
Our mouths move in synch and my heartbeat increases. I drown myself in his scent as his hands move from my cheeks to my waist and pulling me flush against him. Jadon gently walks backwards until we're bursting into Marco's music studio.
"You should play music for me sometime," I say in between gasps for air.
"Yeah, whenever you want," Jadon says between kisses as he peppers my neck with them. Jadon's hands slide up my sides and start to fiddle with the back of my bathing suit.
"We should stop," Jadon says coming to a halt.
"Yeah," I say a out of breath.
We stand and straighten ourselves before we walk out of the studio. Once outside, I stop in my tracks as I see Lucas wade into the indoor pool.
"Marco's going to be mad if he finds out the two of you were in there alone," Lucas says not looking at me.
"He's not going to know," I say sternly.
"Yeah," he says nonchalantly says before driving under the water.
I scoff and roll my eyes. I look to Jadon as he runs his long fingers through his hair. I grab Jason's hand and tug him up the stairs. Once at the landing between the two floors, Brett's shadow dances across the floor as we walks by us obliviously.
"I'll walk you out," I tell Jadon.
We walk through the foyer and to the front door with light footsteps. I tug one of the heavy doors open. Outside, the light reflects off the cars and back at our pupils. I assume the unfamiliar Jeep in the driveway belongs to Jadon and I walk over to it.
"So," Jadon says slowly.
"So," I repeat as slow as he did.
"Do we fist bump and go our separate ways or what," Jadon asks with a small laugh.
"How about just a hug," I suggest. The corners of Jason's lips turn up, and he leans back against the drivers door of his jeep and opens his arms.
I walk into his open arms and wrap mine around his neck. I inhale as he squeezes me tighter before his arms go limp and I let go. I smile at him and he climbs into the jeep and starts engine. He tears out of the Archer's driveway and waves to me as he leaves.
"A fist bump and leave," Lucas's voice laughs from behind me, "what the hell was that?"
"It's nothing," I respond slightly angry.
Who does Lucas think he is? Can't he just leave me alone?
I march past him not saying another word, but as our shoulders hit, something compels me to stop and look at him. I ignore the feeling and stick to my intended path. I climb the stairs to Arabella's room. The moment I walk in, I see her sitting on her bed and she stares at a blank wall.
"You okay girl," I ask as I sit next to her and rub small circles into her back.
"I don't know," she says blankly as she stares at the same point on the wall.
"You want to tell me what's bothering you," I ask sweetly.
"I saw my biological father in a dream today," Arabella says sounding confused.
"Well that's a good thing, right," I gently question as I try not to pry too far.
"I don't know," she says never looking at me, "he said that Lucas is thing to have to make some tough decisions about I'll have to stand by him, but I'm worried it may hurt my family."
"Arabella, you have such an understanding and amazing family," I assure her, "no matter what happens then will support you."
"I hope you're right," Arabella says laying back on her bed still not looking at me.
"I know I'm right, but hey, do you want to go get something to eat," I offer.
"No thank you, I just want to sleep," she says rolling away from me and covering herself with a blanket.
I give her upper arm a slight squeeze as O get up and leave. Outside I hear Brett's and Lucas's hushed whispers from below me. I creep over to the bridge railing and peer over so I can hear better.
"Are you positive it's Sadie," Brett asked in a hushed whisper.
"Yes," Lucas whispers back just as loud but annoyed. "I wouldn't be so goddamn pissed if she wasn't!"
