~|Right Before Pan's Curse|~
Regina watched as her son and his biological mother took off in the obnoxious yellow Volkswagen Bug. She turned behind her seeing the dark purple clouds reminiscent of hers during the first Dark Curse. She then noticed two familiar faces: a frenemy and his daughter.
"You've won, Jefferson," she said as the purple cloud of magic was rumbling in.
"What?!" He asked as the whipped loudly as he walked towards her.
"You won, I'm going to be miserable the rest of my life, so you've won."
"This wasn't a race between us, Regina. And I've forgiven you-"
"Yeah right. I'm a villain, and I won't get my happy ending. You might as well mock me now."
"I'm not going to do that. I forgive you, okay? Wherever we're going, I'm going to be your friend. Can you trust me on that?" He asked, holding out his hand as the clouds came closer and closer, his other hand locked firmly with his daughter's.
She turned to him just as the curse swept over them, she latched her hand onto his, giving him her trust. Having a friend wouldn't hurt, but he had hurt her in the past. Why would now be any different? Maybe it was a bad decision to trust him. But she decided kept those worries buried.
~|One Month After Curse: Storybrooke|~
Regina walked along the leaf-covered sidewalk, watching as the wind brushed them away. She stopped outside of Granny's, but she didn't go in, she just stood up against the wall as the chilled air swept over her skin. Why didn't I bring a jacket, she thought. She just needed some time to process everything.
She didn't really have David or Snow to go to, or Emma, or Henry. She felt so alone, but at least she had her...wait, she really doesn't have anymore friends. She let out a sigh, pushing herself off the wall and started to walk away, but then she heard the door open. It was Grace and Jefferson, large smiles plastered on their faces.
She continued to walk though. She didn't need friends, right?
"Oh, Regina, fancy seeing you here," Jefferson called from behind her with a chuckle as she sighed and stood in place.
They came up to her, but Grace looked at her unimpressed. "Aren't you the person who separated my papa and I?" She asked as Regina turned to them.
"Grace!"
"Jefferson, she's right, I am," Regina admitted as Grace glared at her.
"What did he possibly do to you, that made you want to break apart our family?!" Grace shouted, and her father grabbed her arm.
"Grace..." Jefferson warned.
"It's...it's complicated."
"I want to know!" The girl demanded and Regina nodded, preparing herself to tell the poor girl.
"Your father and I have quite a past, Grace. We were friends for awhile, until he betrayed me," she said, looking at a guilty Jefferson. "He said he had my back, and I believed him about it. I mean, I had no other friends really. Then, there was this ball coming up and I didn't want to dance with the king. Your father said he would have me as his date in secret. It felt good. I was looking forward to it and I thought it would be fun."
