Chapter 12

*Yoshiko's POV*
When we got to the kitchen, I immediately started climbing a counter. I grabbed my favorite cereal from the highest shelf.
"You're getting cereal?" Shu asked, grabbing a random snack. He watched me as I told him to hush and kept digging through the cabinet. I pulled out a jar from the far back, and set it down as I shimmied down off the counter.
"Shu, you can't tell anyone about these." I opened the jar and shoved it in front of him, urging him to take one. They were cookies. He looked at me confused.
"And why is that?" Though he still grabbed one. I grabbed one too and closed the jar, setting it back down.
"Because they're special cookies and only I can make them." I grinned as he took a bite and I watched as his eyes went wide.
"How are they so good?" I shushed him and told him it was a secret. I turned to put the jar back when I felt Kanato near me.
"What's a secret?" He asked, as I rushed to push the jar in the back of the cabinet. But Kanato was now on the counter with me, stopping me from putting it away.
"It's nothing..." I mumbled, but I practically screamed at him when he snatched the jar from me and opened it. I pouted when he glared at me, as I sank down to sit on the counter.
"You kept these cookies a secret from me? I thought that sweets were our thing...! You told Shu, but not me!?" I thought he was getting mad, but he started crying. I pulled him to sit next me and hugged him.
"Kanato, calm down. I wanted to tell you but I thought you would always ask me to make them for you and it takes a long time." I whined, trying to calm him down.
"Can I try one then...?" He looked at me, wiping his face. I sighed, but gave him one. He bit into it and almost fell off the counter.
"These are so good! Make me some, now!" He screamed, finishing the cookie. He took the jar from me and kept eating them.
"Kanato, they take too long to make and I'm tired." I groaned, trying to grab the jar. "Now give them back before you eat them all." I reached out for them, but he started running.
"No! I'm gonna eat them all so you have to make me more!" He ran away and I chased him, yelling at him. We ran around the kitchen, until Shu grabbed my arm.
"I know you're tired, so just eat your cereal and let it go." I pouted as Kanato stopped running and looked at us. He glared, but left some cookies in the jar, handed me Teddy without hesitation, and put the cookies back in the cabinet.
"I left some in the jar, so you won't get mad." He took Teddy back and went to get a different food to eat. I grinned at him.
"Thank you, Kanato!" I hugged him, though Shu pulled me away from him after a little. I smiled and made me a bowl of cereal. I jumped up to sit on the counter and started eating my cereal.
"Shu, you're cute when you're jealous~" I teased him, smirking at him next to me. He moved over to stand in between my legs and put his hands next to me, on either side.
"I was not jealous." He glared slightly as I giggled and kept eating my cereal.
"Then why else would you pull me away from hugging Kanato, hm?"
"Don't talk with your mouth full."
"You're avoiding the question~" I giggled and finished my cereal, slurping the left over milk.
"And you're being annoying~" He mocked, rolling his eyes. I groaned and put the bowl in the sink next to me. I poked his chest before crossing my arms.
"Just admit it. You were jealous."
"Whatever." He looked away and I smirked.
"I wanna hear you say it." He shook his head and put his arms around me. Then we were in my room, on my bed. He pushed me to lie down then laid next to me.
"Now rest." He used my stomach as a pillow, draping an arm over me and closing his eyes. I got comfortable and started playing with his hair.
I've gotten used to doing this with him, he'd end up in the bed either way. He said that sleeping next to me was comfortable, so I didn't complain.
I couldn't sleep cause I was too occupied with his hair and before I knew it I giggled. I chanted quietly, 'Shu was jealous' until he groaned.
"Yoshiko. Sleep." I pouted but complied, soon falling asleep.
*A week or so later*
      I've been training every other day. We'd go to night school, then I'd train. The next day we'd go to school then I'd practice piano with Laito or rest. I was getting better so I had less cuts a bruises as the days went on. Though I still couldn't use my powers in my left hand.
       Kanato would try and help me use the flames, since he could manipulate fire. He would sit with me and try and figure out ways to make it work. But it still hadn't.
      Subaru would teach me techniques to get out of certain situations while fighting. Laito and Ayato did the main fighting, like the first time. Reiji didn't help any, though he watched sometimes.
      Yui was the distraction person. I was surprised she was helping, but I guess our bad relationship was fading little by little. She stopped with the rude comments and soon it was more of us joking around, if it wasn't about our past.
      I asked Shu to help, but whenever I did his response was, "I help you sleep." Once he even said, "I'll train you, but it'll be in my bedroom."  When he said that, I blushed and couldn't reply but Ayato saved me when he said he we needed to start.
      I was training with Ayato and Laito at the moment. Everyone was watching, to see how well I improved. I would like to think I was doing better as I had just kicked Ayato away, since I had been faster than him and his back was to me.
      "You're going to have to go harder, Ayato." I teased him. We weren't using weapons, and were doing hand to hand combat. He turned around and laughed at me, getting ready to go again.
      I stopped him when I felt someone behind me. I was practically near a corner so there was just a shadow. But I knew someone was there. There was only one person I knew who used shadows to fight and get around, but it couldn't be him. It just couldn't.
      Either way, I told Ayato to hush, summoning my scythe and pointing it right at the corner. Just as someone stepped out, raising their hands in defense.
      "Woah, woah. Calm down Yoshi." My eyes went wide and I dropped my scythe. It clattered on the ground before disappearing. I felt a tear fall down my cheek.
