"Get out of my way you fag." Dave Karosky the school bully said, knocking Kurt down.

"Leave him alone." Blaine quickly went over and helped his best friend up.

"Looks like we have two fags." Dave laughed and walked away.

"Are you okay?" Blaine asked, picking Kurt's books up. Kurt nodded.

"Yeah. What do you think he means by 'fags'?" Kurt asked and Blaine shrugged. "I'll ask my dad about it tonight."

"Hey kiddo." Burt greeted his son once he stepped into the living room. He looked back down at his news paper. "How was school?" Burt asked.

"Hey dad. It was..good." Kurt set his bag down in the chair and sat next to his dad. Kurt looked down at his hands. "Can I ask you something? A definition of a word?" Kurt asked and Burt nodded.

"Of course. whats up?" Burt put the newspaper down and looked at Kurt.

"What's-What is a..fag?" Kurt asked, a little afraid that he'd get in trouble for saying a maybe bad word. Burt's face dropped when those words came out of his sons mouth.

"Did someone call you that?" Burt asked and Kurt nodded. Burt sighed and sat down. He patted the seat next to him on the couch. Kurt slowly sat down. Burt had to think of how he would explain this to his son.

"Dad?"

"Okay. So, you know how much I loved your mother. Your mother and I loved each other so much that we decided to get married and have a baby together and that baby turned out to be you."

"Wait are we having that talk again?" Kurt asked, getting up. Burt lightly grabbed Kurt's shoulder and sat him back down.

"No." Burt shook his head. "Men and Women fall in love all the time. Like how I fell in love with your mom." Kurt nodded, getting a bit sad at the second mention of his mom. "But men and women aren't the only people who can fall in love." Burt tried to explain. Kurt nodded.

"I don't get it. Wait can animals and humans fall in love too? If so then that shouldn't be a thing." Kurt shook his head.

"No." Burt shook his head. Kurt looked at his dad with a confused expression. Burt gave Kurt a sad look. It hurts to know someone called Kurt such a derogatory term. Kurt didn't know why his dad looked so sad. He looked at his dad. He wanted to know what that word meant. "I mean. People of the same gender can fall in love with each other too."

"Oh..Wait..So, a man and a man can love each other as well as a women can love another women?" Kurt asked, tilting his head.

"Yeah. Exactly."

"So, they can do what a mom and dad do? Like kiss and uh hold hands and have babies?" Kurt asked.

"They can do everything except have babies with each other." Burt said.

"Why?" Kurt asked.
